Bob Miller, a former member of the Society for the Preservation of Riverview WI armchair travel AILSA CRAIG - The Riverview W.I. members went armchair trav- elling again at their October meet- ing held in the Masonic Hall, Ailsa Craig. This time they were taken to Portugal, Spain and Gibralter via slides and commentary by Evelyn McNaughton. Jean McKichan and the International Affairs Commit- tee had planned this meeting and at the conclusion of the presentation Jean presented Evelyn with a box of goodies. Jean read a Thanksgiving poem and two passages of scripture with a Thanksgiving theme. While en larging on the motto, "All nations smile in the same language", Marie Campbell told that a smile is silent language and the cornerstone of friendship. A sunny smile means we are friends and a smile costs nothing but it creates much. During the business part of the meeting the group decided to pur- chase a brick for the Ailsa Craig Recreation Centre. During the social time Sadie Walker and her committee served doughnuts and tea at nicely deco- rated tables. In November Riverview W.I. will meet at Craigholme with the Nursing Home residents and every- one will supply some cookies. He and Tom Hindle compiled a list of possible candidates, then followed through. Henry Morin, another longtime devotee of four-part harmony, is director. The men made their debut as part of Grand Cove's annual revue, pre- sented September 22 and 23. They were a big hit, and . requests for more performances quickly came in. The group was asked to sing for the Grand Bend Golden Agers last Wednesday afternoon, and en- tertained at the Blue Water Rcst Home, along with some other acts from the revue, the following day. According to the songsters, the mix of lead, tenor, baritone and bass is the purest form of harmony. All agreed that barber shop -style singing with others who like it as much as you do is fun. The group is looking for more re- cruits. Twenty singers are needed Sneaky Snackers tour Valumart CREDITON - The third meeting of the Sneaky Snackers started off with a tour of the Valu -mart gro- cery store in Exeter. We thanked him and went back to member Margaret Steffen's place for our meeting. Back at Margaret's we read through our book and did a word search and a quiz on "A time saver or waster?" For the meal, Margie made a piz- za -style frittata and 1000 Island dressing. I made the salad and make -ahead meat sauce. We were allsatisifed. Press reporter Rosemary Glavin Mt.
