Jungle Joos wins
LUCAN - On Monday night,
September 18, the Jungle Joose
Jets defeated the Tookey's Tigers'
by a score of 13-9, this claiming
their first ever "A" Men's slo pitch
championship of the Lucan Rec
League.
Entering the playoffs, the Jungle
Joose squad had finished the regu-
lar season tied for the first -place
with the same Toohey's Tigers and'
Debbie's Raiders.
All three teams had identical
records of 17-7. But because of the
head-to-head records between the
three teams, Toohey's was awarded
first place, Debbie's second and the
Noose third spot.
In the quarter finals, it took two
extra innings games for the Jungle
Joose to defeat a very stubborn
State Farm team two games to one.
In the semi-finals, the Joose de-
feated Debbie's Raider three game -
to -one.
In the "A" championship finals
the Jets got off to a. great start by
winning the opening game by a
convincing 12-4 score. •
In game two the Joose came from
behind with three runs in the first
inning and held on to gain a 8-5 tri-
umph.
-In game four, the roles were re-
versed.
The Joose scored five runs in the
first inning and another six runs in
the i-ifth frame and held on for a
13-9 victory and clinch their first-
ever "A" championship tide in the
team's history.
The Jets received good pitching
performances all year and into the
playoffs from Albert Thompson
and Dave Smith, who by the way,
pitched the entire final series.
The Joose's defence and offence,
ranked rust in both categories
throughout the year, ,definitely
played a significant role in 'the
team's playoff success.
The Jungle Joose Jets would like
'to thank all their loyal -fan support.
