changes date
of registration

ZURICH - The registration for the Zurich Figure Skating Club has
been changed to October 3 from 7-9 p.m. at the'arena. For more in-
fonnation call Lois Jones at 263-5070.
Paper collection
The Torchbearers Boys Club from the Mennonite Church are still
collecting papers this Thursday and every last Thursday of the
month.
St. Boniface
The next PTA meeting will be Thursday October 19 at 7:30 when
parents can meet the teachers and visit the classrooms. This will be
followed by a social hour and pot -luck dessert.

The first meeting of the Zurich 4-H will be this evening at 7 p.rn.
at the home of leader Sylvia Nub.
Personals
Shelley Laporte and Steve Bedard were married at St. Peter's
Church in St. Joseph on Saturday. .
Birthday wishes go to Margaret Hess who was 8$ years young on
Sunday. Her family were all home on the weekend for the event.
Josef Risi, the Blue Water Rest Home superintendent, and his wife
Connie, attended the Homes for the Aged convention in Toronto
from September 17-20. Also attending was head nurse Barb Shep-
pard and auxiliary president Gladys Gingerich and member Mary
Gingerich.
A bridal shower was held for Carol Fisher at the Township Hall on
Saturday afternoon. Fisher is the fiancee of Bob Stuckless and the
couple are planning a wedding for October 14.
Another bridal shower was thrown for Marsha Humphrey in Lon-
don on the weekend. Humphrey is the fiancee of Stephen Stark.
Ted and Nancy Ducharme have returned from a visit out west to
Alberta.
Bill Wagner, Bob and Linda Hendrick, Lionel and Rebecca Wild-
er, Don and Jean Weigand, and Murray' and Joan Keys were all out
in Prince Rupert B.C. last week attending a convention at the ex-
pense of the Hay Township Telephone System.

ZURICH - The fall season is
upon us and we will soon be begin-
ning our fall and winter programs.
We would like you to mark your.
calendars for some of our upcom-
ing events. On Friday, October 13,
Geri Fashions will be bringing
their display of adaptable and regu-
lar clothing for shoppers from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. This is an opportuni-
ty for Residents who cannot visit
shopping centres to make some
choices on their own. We hope that
some family members will come
during these hours'to put their seals
of approval on their decisions.
Sfiturday, November 11 the annu-
al Auxiliary bazaar, tea and bake
sale will be"held in the auditorium
and dining room from 2-4 p.m. As
this is one of many functions
around this time of the year, we are
hoping you will keep this date in
mind.
Friday afternoon, Mark Chalut
took the Residents on a bus tour in
and around Exeter area where they
visited one of the vegetable farms
to see all the products available.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Rev. Stanley
Desjardine of the Church of God,
Grand Bend.

Time to sign up for figure skating

HENSALL - Anyone wishing to
sign up their children for the Hen-
sall Figure Skating Program may
do so at the arena on Tuesday Oc-
tober 3 at 6:30 to 9 p.m. or on the
following Saturday from 9 a.m. to
noon. Anyone who registers after
these dates will be charged an addi-
tional $25.

HPS
Hensall Public School welcomes
new staff members Ms. Becker,
Mrs. Beattie, and Mr. Rideout as
well as Mrs. Ballantyne, the new
secretary.
Credit for the new paint job on
the school's playground equipment
goes to Jeremy Neilands and
Thomas Scotchmer.
If anyone has a comfy chair or
clean piece of rug they might like to
donate to the school library, give
the school a call.
The "Adult volunteer" program at
HPS will be in full swing in Octo-
ber. They have "jobs" for all sorts
of folks. If you would like to offer
your services the school would like
to hear from you.

The Hensall Nursery School held
its fust parent meeting September
19 to. fill both executive and sub-
committee seats.
The pay -what -you -pull winners
were drawn: Sharon Erb won $100,
Gayle Boogemans $50, and Scott
Hill $25.
HDHS
The Hensall and District Horti-
cultural Society will be sponsoring
a fall bus trip on Wednesday, Octo-

HENSALL - Residents enjoyed a
special treat Monday evening when
several women from the Zurich
Mennonite Church visited us for a
tea party and special ladies hour.
Tuesday afternoon Reverend De-
bra Carter of Centralia United
Church led our worship service.
Several residents took advantage of
the beautiful weather with walks
outside later in the afternoon. •
The highlight of Wednesday had
to be our chili sauce canning pro-
ject at Baking Club. For such a
nostalgic operation we had as
many observers as participants
with no shortage of ad'"i • fr)
how "I used to do it".
Friday morning residents jour-
neyed to Seaforth for the "African
Lion Safari's Parrot Paradise Trav-
elling Show". Everyone thought it
was super. These exotic birds rode
scooters, played basketball, rode
bicycles and talked. A big thank
you to Joyce Ribey for our invita-
tion.

tember 29 at 7 p.m. is our Birthday
Party with Marie Flynn and the Hu-

Mrs..Gary Merritt returned to her
home in California after visiting
with her parents Carl and Hilda
Payne.
Several Northcrest residents at-
tended the September birthday par-
ty at Huronview last Wednesday.
Library
Twelve people were well enter-
tained by handwriting analyst Lar-
ry Cherns at the Library on Satur-
day. Cherns showed how
handwriting could be used to beuer
understand oneself and others. A
graphoanalyst since 1965, Cherns
had many amusing anecdotes about
how he has applied his talents.
Shuffleboard
Top scorer in shuffleboarding
last week was Marjorie Richardson
with 356, followed by Dave Wood-
ward at 328 and Helen McKay
with 269.
United Church
