Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Darryl Greb who were married on

At the UCW meeting on Thurs-
dayevening the guest speaker was
Carolyn Vincent from Survival
Through Friendship House in
Goderich-who spoke on battered
women.
Program was arranged by Iva
Blair, Marian Abbott and Gladys
Buselt with Lunch committee be-
ing Phyllis Tomes, Ellen Brown
and Lois Wilson.
The UCW received an invitation
from Elimville to attend their Hai*
vest Tea on October 25 at 8:00.
On Sunday at the United Church
Rev. Carter chose as her topic
"This Man Receives Sinners".
Next Wednesday evening of this
week all Elders are asked to attend a
meeting at the Manse from 8 to 10
The inhabitants of the village of
Centralia are preparing for a giant
village wide garage sale, also a
craft show at the United Church on
Saturday, October 7 from 9 to 12
noon along with many other activi-
ties.
Von. Overholt spent the weekend
with her daughter Brad and Pauline

SAINTSBURY - Thanksgiving
Service is planned for September 24
at eleven a.m. at St. Patrick's
church.
Nadine Bedell was hostess for the
A.C.W. September meeting on
Tuesday evening, she took the
meeting in the absence of the presi-
dent Rose Cunningham.
The usual prayers and meditation.

ton and Nadine's treasurers report.

place of the chicken barbecue we 1
held a few years ago. s
Nadine asked how many members
could repeat the "Magnificat" from ,
morning prayer service. Rev.
Wheeler said we would use it on
morning prayer service. A contest
conducted by Nadine was won by
Rev. Wheeler.
Viola Atkinson invited the ladies
to her home for the October meet-
ing. The hostess served refresh-
ments and closed with prayer.
Marylou Tindall, Mississauga,
Ron and Nancy Cunningham, April
and Tom, Mar visited their parents
and, attended the 35th anniversary
gathering for their aunt'and uncle
Ross and Audrey (Tindall) McFalls
at Lucan Legion Sunday afternoon.
Many relatives and friends attended
also to extend their good wishes
from this community.
Seniors meet
LUCAN - Lucan Seniors and
Busy Buddies met in the Scout Hall
opening with 0 Canada with Mary
Kooy at the piano.
The treasurer reported on the pur-
chase of table spoons and pie serv-
ers.
It was decided to have coffee at
meetings rather than lunch.

Lucan picnic
LUCAN - Lucan United Church
Sunday School and congregation
held a picnic after Sunday Service.
Bag lunches and visiting were en-
joyed in the Clandeboye Room.
Outside, the superintendent and
teachers conducted relays: a treasure
hunt, blowing balloons, egg and
spoon and bath paper roll.
These were much enjoyed by the
children and spectators.

A large crowd enjoyed the Fish
Fry at the Masonic Hall on Sunday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wissel and
Mrs. Nora Wissel attended the wed-
ding of the latter's grandson Dean
Scott at Guelph on Saturday.
Florence McRobert and Muriel
Lewis from the Granton Women's
Institute were guests at the the
Western Fair luncheon on Monday,
September 11.
Grant Warrington of British Co -
spent the weekend at the
home of his sister Irene and Don
Roloson and family.
At St. Thomas' Anglican Church
on Sunday, September 17, the Har-
vest Thanksgiving service was held.
Rev. Beverley Wheeler celebrated
the Eucharist and spoke about being
thankful for God's love.
The lessons were read by Roy
Moore and the minister. Special
music was provided by Carol
Hughesman and Peter Daniels of
the Arise Group from London. A
time of fellowship followed the ser-
vice.
The St. Thomas Anglican Church
board of management met at the
church on Thursday evening, Sep-
tember 14.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Rev. Bruce Pierce's sermon
was entitled God's Ultimatum to
man. The lessons were from ;Habak-
kuk 3 and John 15.
The Granton youth group met at
the church on Sunday evening.

Unit four met at Betty Dann's
home on•Wednesday evening, Sep-
tember 13. President Marilyn Hum-
phrey led the meditation based on
Genesis 11 verse 34, which she il-
lustrated with a heading "the Crys-
tal Ball". A poem about the Burn-
ing Bushes was also read.
Rhea Hardie was in charge of the
program and read an article concern-
ing when life becomes too crowded.
The meeting was closed with prayer
and the hostess served lunch.
Unit five met at the home of
Mary Jones, St. Marys on Friday,
September 15 for a mystery tour
planned by Ina Harlton. First they
went to Stratford to the Swiss Cha-
let for dinner and then on to
Shakespeare to explore the antique
shops.
The Tea Room is Shakespeare
provided a pleasant break which
was followed by a short business
meeting. President Margaret
Spence led the discussion on the
bazaar and luncheon and some
plans were made of the general
U.C.W. program and meeting on
October 10.
Breakfast drinks - Preparing drinks for Sunday's breakfast spon-
sored by the Lucan-Biddulph fire department are fire chief Wes
Hickson, Glenn Kelly anrian Herbert.
