Famous troupe at Stratford
STRATFORD - The Stratford
Area Association for Community
Living is privileged to present the
world-renowned Famous People
Players as a fund-raising event. All
those attending this wonderful show
will enjoy it tremendously.
The Famous People Players,
Canada's well-known theatre troupe,
will be performing at the Avon
Theatre in Stratford on November
24. Tickets are still available for
their rare and remarkable perfor-
mance.
For 14 years, the Famous People
Players have been bringing the age-
less fantasy of folklore, fairy tales,
classical and contemporary music to
life for the entire family. Their
name evolved from their use of life-
sized likenesses of top celebrities
such as Librace, Barbara Streisand,
Liza Minelli, Michael Jackson,
Kenny Rogers and Stevie Wonder.
What makes the Famous People
Players so extraordinary is the fact
that 10 of its 13 members are devel-
opmentally handicapped - a fact au-
diences have never even suspected
watching the company •in action.

The company specializes in the
blacklight theatre technique. The
players dress entirely in black and
must work literally in the dark.
They manipulate images -life-sized
props painted fluorescent colours -
under the illumination of ultra-
violet lights. The final effect ren-
ders the players invisible and brings
their characters to life, totally be-
lievable and utterly charming.
Famous People Players' founder
and Artistic Director, Diane Dupuy,
was determined to train her mem-
bers so thoroughly that they could
be judged on an equal basis with
any other professional troupe - and
she succeeded. Under her direction,
they have achieved professional ex-
'rtise, ndependence, self-
Lunfidence and have brought joy to
millions.
What you'll see is sensational.
What you won't see is inspiration-
al.

AILSA CRAIG - The Ailsa
Craig United Church Sunday
School room was a hive of activity
when the United Church Women
met there recently. Before the meet-
ing started Mary Scafe and Lena
Stokes had put a comforter in the
quilting frames and after Mary.
showed the method for tieing a
quilt the ladies went to work.
Before the evening was over the
comforter was out of the frames
and everyone admired their hand-
work. When completely finished
this quilt will be given to the
Doerr family.
Everyone enjoyed working on the
quilt so much that they decided to
do another one for the bazaar that is
coming up on November 18.
During the business part of the
meeting, plans were made to pur-
chase some United Church calendars
and to buy some books for the
church library.
Rev. Anne Beattie -Stokes an-
nounced that she will be starting a
daytime Bible Study group in the
near future.
During the social time, Jean Ma-
guire served tea and cake.
The next U.C.W. meeting will be
on October 10 at 8 p.m, in the
Sunday School room.
Elliott reunion in park
EXETER - The 50th Elliott re-
union was held in Elliott Park on
Sunday, August 13, 1998. This
was a very special day for the Elli-
ott Clan. Over 200 family members
attended from different parts of the
United States, Western Canada and
Ontario.
The Lord blessed with a beautiful
day and everyone enjoyed meeting
family members they hadn't seen in
a few years, and some had never
met before.
A large tent was put up on Friday
night in case of rain or to have
some shade if it was sunny.
Several people have asked why
that property was named Elliott
Park. Jack Elliott and Mary Houl-
den married in 1914. A few years
later they purchased this property in
northwest Exeter from Jack's moth-
er. They moved two houses that
were to be tom down unto a founda-
tion and fixed them up. They resid-
ed there for over 60 years. In fact
they were the only people to live
on that piece of land.
The Elliott's had six children,
sometimes one would have thought
it was a park because of the number
of children who came to play on the
hills in the winter and at the river
in the summer.
At one time all four corners had
Elliott families living on them.
Tom Elliott, a brick layer, built the
big house on the south corner with

The Elliou descendants were very
honoured to dedicate this piece of
property to the memory of Jack and
Mary. They want to thank Ben
Hoogneboom for coming on this
special day, and for bringing greet-
ings from the town. It was Ben
who helped obtain permission from
the town to name the park Elliott
Park.
