Schilbe wins
at Bayview
ST. JOSEPH - Bayview Golf
Club held its final major tourna-
ment of the season Saturday, the
Men's Invitational, and well over
100 area golfers took part under
sunny skies.
The low gross overall winner for
the tournament was Richard
Schilbe with 70 and the low net
winner was Lloyd Walter, who
posted a score of 65.
Taking top honors in the "A"
flight were; low gross winner
Steve Atkins with 71 and low net
winner was Ted Wilson who shot a
score of 63.
Winners in the "B" flight were;
Ken Tapper taking the low gross
with 72 and Jody Kelterborn took
low net honors with a 65.
Kim McKinnon was the low
gross winner in the "C" flight with
a score of 83, while Bob Linton
took low net laurels in "C" flight
with 66.
Chris Masse won the longest
drive contest on hole number eight
and Ron Steeper won the closest -
to -the -pin championship on hole
number 11. Dave Denomy took the
award for being the most honest
golfer in the tournament.
Grand draw prize winner of a new
14 -piece set of clubs was Dave
Scatcherd, owner of Oakwood Golf
Club in Grand Bend.

offence going

and scored twice. Al Pym, Brent
Dawson, Jim Lewis, with two sin-
gles, and Bob Cornish also added
safeties off two Tavistock pitchers.
Hodgins pitched the complete
game victory as he allowed six hits
and struck out 16.
Royals now advance to meet
Millbank in the semi-finals. The
first game of the series was played
last night in Exeter with the second
game scheduled for Millbank on
Thursday at 8:45. If a third game is
necessary, it would be played in
Exeter on the weekend.
In a recent team vote, Pete Tuck-
ey was named the Royals' Most
Valuable Player for the 1989 sea-
son.
The 26 -year old outfielder, who
is in his fourth year with Exeter,
has led the team in batting average
and on base percentage all year and
is one of the top defensive centre
fielders in the league.
He will receive an award from the
league at the annual wrap-up ban-
quet to be held October 20 in Strat-
ford.
