LUCAN - During the past week,
criminal occurrences were average
in number for Ontario Provincial
Police in Lucan. Only one break,
enter and theft and one theft were
reported however, five wilful dam-
age complaints were received.
Bicycle tires were slashed, a vehi-
cle was dented and highway signs
were knocked down. The number of
damage occurrences seems to be in-
creasing.
Seven persons were charged with
liquor offences and two persons
were arrested for being drunk in a
public place. Some of these charg-
es stemmed form noisy party com-
plaints in the Lucan area. One man
was charged with impaired driving
during the week.
False alarms continue to be a
concern with eight false alarms be-
ing answered by Lucan
proximately one out of every six
occurrences for the past week were
false alarms.
Ten motor vehicle accidents oc-
curred in the Lucan area in this re-
porting period but none were seri-
ous in nature. Four persons were
reportedly hurt but only minor in-
juries were received.
Next week sees the children re-
turn to school after two months of
summer holidays. This mearts
many children will be walking to
and from school during morning
and evening traffic times. School
buses will also be back out in full
force.
Police would like to remind mot-
orists to watch for school children
and stop for school buses. Parents
are also asked to remind their chil-
dren about street and traffic safety.
