ciation barbecue at the farm of MPP Jack Riddell.

zer taught a new chorus Reign Lord
Jesus Sunday morning. Rcv. Pieter
Schinkleshock spoke from Psalm
22:1-8; Hebrews 4:14-16, to 5:7-9.
Suffering seems to be a lonely bat-
tle, yet all Christians will some -
firms suffer. Jesus our Lord was
touched in all areas we arc when He
was crucified, yet without sin.
Thus Jesus understands the pain,
rejection, and hurts we experience.
Jesus learned obedience to His Fa-
thcr God before He suffered. Chris -
Flower show
KIRKTON - There was a very
good showing of flowers at the
Kirkton Horticulture Society annual
flower show on August 15 at Kirk -
ton Woodham community hall.
A good crowd came to see the
display of flowers and enjoy the
program. Mrs. Marjorie Johns
played several numbers on the pia-
no while people looked at flowers.
Mrs. Marjorie Atthill welcomed
everyone to the show and was chair -
lady for the program.
Mrs. Doris Spence and Susan
Marriott favored with ducts. Doris
accompanied with the guitar.
Mrs. Joyce Strahan introduced
Mrs. Betty Bodenham who demon-
strated floral arrangements. The
flowers were from Flower Pedlar,
Exeter. Mrs. Jean Ratcliffe thanked
Betty for her interesting displays.
There was a draw for several door
prizes. Mrs. Frances Culliton of
Stratford was the judge of the flow-
ers. Mrs. Marjorie Johns gave the
judges remarks.
The Toronto Dominion Bank do-
-nated prizes for the best rose in the
show to Mrs. Ethel I Ienderson. The
best gladiolus in the show to Mrs.
Laura Hem and the best 10 large
flowered spikes' to Mrs. Laura Hcrn.
Mrs. Madaline Parkinson an-
nounced prizes for most points.
Winners were Joyce Strahan (130),
tian obedience to God can bring
suffering, yet we can know Jesus
understands how we feel.
Psalm 22 graphically portrays Je-
sus, suffering for our sins. He-
brews 5 records Jesus' prayers be-
fore His crucifixion when His
disciples left Him. When we feel
empty and lonely Jesus knows ex-
actly how we feel. Rev. Schinkle-
shock recalled the hurts Joni Erick-
son experienced being paralyzed,
until she realized Jesus knew how
she felt. Upon surrender to Jesus,
Joni found peace in serving God.
Sunday evening Rcv. Roger Ma-
son from Luke 14:15-24, showed
how the grace of God extends to
the poor and needy. The Kingdom
of God is here likened to a great
feast. All are welcome who answer
God's call to come.
God sent His best, His Son Jesus
Christ, to pay the price for our sal-
vation. Like those who refused the
invitation to the feast, some refuse
God's grace. As the feast invitation
was given to all who would come;
so God's grace of salvation is of-
fered to all.
