doubles by Cindy Down and Elaine Gould, while winning pitcher Patty Down 'allowed only four hits
and six strikeouts. All four of St. Pauls runs were unearned and they actually led 4-2 until the bot-
tom
ottom of the eighth when Exeter scored six times to take the win. The Greys also downed Crediton 2-0
in Exeter Tuesday night and will face Sebringville in Clinton Thursday night.

EXETER - Exeter Squirt 111 soc-

concluded their regular -season play
with a well earned victory over Lu -
can I squirts.
Exeter dominated play in the first
half creating many scoring opportu-
nities but were only able to capital-
ize on one.
Casey O'Brien finished off a four-
way passing play by putting the
ball in the top of the net. Unfortu-
nately Lucan also scored on an ex-
cellent penalty shot to end the first
halfued at 1-1.
In the second half, Exeter contin-
ued to press and were rewarded when -
Ryan Beattie hit the lower right cor-
ner with a hard shot after breaking
down the right side.

seconds in front of the second -place

Tigers start final hone stand
LONDON - The London Tigers
Baseball Club will begin its final
regular season homestand on Thurs-
day, August 10 at Labatt Park, with
a four -game series against the Wil-
liamsport Bills, as the battle for
playoff positioning continues.
The Homestand will run for 11
days, winding up with the Tigers'
final regular season home game of
the 1989 season Sunday, August
20.
The Homestand also features a
number of special events and pro-
motions beginning with Broken Bat
Night on Friday, August 11.
Youngsters 14 -and -under will be el-
igible to receive a 1989 London Ti-
gers broken bat. These are authentic
bats used and broken by London Ti-
gers players during the 1989 season
which makes a great collectors'
item for keepsakes or autographs.
• Saturday, August 12 is Shriner's
Day at Labatt Park. The Shriners
will be having a parade, whooping
it up as they know how to do so
well, and raising money to support
Children's Burn Units.
On Sunday, August 13, it's
Show Your Tiger Spirit Day at La-
batt Park, in a game to be televised
by TV -London. If a fan comes to
the game wearing a Navy Blue or
Orange Shirt (Tiger colours), they
will receive 50 cents off the price of
any Chair or Bench Seat Ticket:
Monday, August 14 features Max
Patkin, the Clown Prince of Base-
ball, as the Tigers open a series
against the New Britain Red Sox.
Patkin is famous for his crazy on -
the -field antics, and doubly famous
for his appearance in the baseball
movie, "Bull Durham".
The Tigers begin a series with
the Reading Phillies on Thursddy,
August 17, highlighted. by Dia-
mond Ring Night on Friday, Au-
gust 18, where some lucky fan will
win a Diamond Ring from Stunner
Jewellers. Saturday, August 19 is
Pro hardware Day, and on Sunday.
August 20, the Tigers and their
1989 sponsors' will celebrate Fan.
Appreciation Day. Fans in atten-
dance will be able to enjoy great
baseball, along with some bonus
entertainment and also be eligible
for some Grrrreat Tiger giveaways
and prizes.
August 2.0 will also be Exeter
Day at Labatt Park. The club has
reserved 500 tickets for the game
which are available from Dolly
Creces at the Exeter 'BIA. There
will be a ceremonial first pitch
from Mayor Bruce Shaw, score-
board recognition and the Jug Band
will also be performing.
So don't miss the final 1989 reg-
ular season homestand of the Lon-
don Tigers baseball club, beginning
Thursday, August 10 through Sun-
day, August 20.
Lucan -beats Exeter in close game
EXETER - In Squirt action this
week, Exeter I hosted Lucan III. Ex-
eter played a strong offensive and
defensive game. Playing strong of-
fensively were: Craig Overholt and
Andy Frieter with several good
shots on net. Bramwell Steele
played exceptionally well by being
a thorn in Lucan's offensive drive.
David Overholt held his defensive.

Exeter II opposed a strong Grand
Bend team and tied them 1-1. Exeter
took the lead early in the game on a
strong drive by Steven Rasenburg.
Most of the game was played in
mid -field, until the last few minutes
when Grand Bend managed to break
through Exeter's defense and score
to tie the game.
All the players on the Exeter
team played their best game yet.
Exeter IV finished the season on
