Stratford season for 1990
STRATFORD - In David Wil-
liam's first season as Artistic Di-
rector, four of Shak peare's mas-
terworks, the presntation of a
contemporary Canadian play by
Sharon Pollock on one of the main
stages, on of Congreve's late Res -
Forthcoming Marriage - Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Hendriks are

ter Marianne Hendriks to Jo-
seph P. .Keller, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph H. Keller. The wed-
ding will take place on Satur-
day, August 12, 1989 at 2:30
p.m. at St. Peter's Church, St.
Joseph. Open reception, 9:00
p.m. in Hensall.

of a Pulitzer Prize-winning Ameri-
can drama by Edward Albee and a
moving work by the English play-
wright David Storey, plus an ex-
ceptional Broadway musical based
on a story and characters by Damon
Runyon, will all be part of the
Stratford Festival's outstanding
1990 season.
Artistic Director Designate, Da-
vid William presented his 1990
"main company" playbill for the
Festival, Avon and Third Stages, -at
a meeting of the Festival's full
Board of Governors on July 28, in
Stratford.
On the world-renowned Festival
Theatre stage, the 1990 season will
open with MacBeth, one of the
greatest tragedies of all time. This
will be joined by the lyrical, ro-
mantic comedy, As You Like It,
and Guys & Dolls, the classic
American musical that combines a
peat book, lyrics and score. Open
ing mid-season will be Shakes-
peare's compelling political trage-
dy, Julius Caesar.
The 1990 season at the -Avon
Theatre will open with Shakes-
peare's bawdy domestic comedy of
love and adultery, The Merry Wid-
ows of Windsor,followed by
Ilome, David Storey's engaging,
strangely, moving drama that won
the New York Theatre Critic's
award for "Best Play of The Year",
and Congreve's brilliant Restora-
tion comedy, Love For Love.
Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-
winning, profoundly original study
of a modern American family, A
Delicate Balance, will open mid-
season, and • later in the season,
Sharon Pollock's challenging con-
temporary Canadian drama, One"Ti-
ger To A Hill, will also be present-
ed.
In addition to playing, at the Fes-
tival and Avon Theatres, members
of the "main company" will also
perform at the Third Stage in pro-
ductions of Racine's Phaedra (trans-
lated by Richard Wilbur), and a
Double Bill of Dostoevsky's The
Grand Inquisitor (adapted from "The
Brothers Karamzov' by Ronald Ma-
vor), and Chekhov's Swan Song.
The title role in Phaedra is consid-
ered the supreme acting challenge of
all time and this will be the first
performance at Stratford of any play
by Racine, who is universally re-
garded as France's greatest dramat-
ist.

Lucan Revival -Centre
LUCAN - Tuesday the members
and friends of Lucan Revival Centre
held an appreciation dinner for Rev.
Pieter and Jeannette Schinkleshoek
in the Fellowship Hall of the,
church. Rev. and Mrs. Schinkle-
shock have accepted a pastorate in
Grande Prairie, Alberta, and will be
leaving the end of August.
After a delicious smorgasbord
dinner, Rev. Roger Mason gave
several humorous anecdotes about
Rev. and Mrs. Schinkleshoek's
work in the church. Miss Anne
McLaughlin, longtime friend of the
Schinkleshoeks related how they
had been a help to her. Bruce Henry
said how much the church has ap-
preciated their ministry, with hu-
mor.
Rev. Schinkleshdek then had his
chance .to relate his version of hu-
morous anecdotes of Rev. and Mrs.
Mason ministry. Mrs. Cathy Ma-
son replied with her version.
Mrs. Jane Bende sang Friends in
appreciation of the Schinkleshoeks.
Doug and Marti Butler sang Pre-
cious Lamb of God and There is a
Saviour. Rev. Mason had a love of-
fering taken up which was presented
to Rev. and Mrs. Schinkleshoek.
Dan Wuerch led in singing the -new
chorus The Angel of the Lord in -
closing the evening.
Sunday morning Tim Kritzer led
the singing accompanied by Mrs.
Lorraine Armitage playing the pia-
