Lemonade after services

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Sheila
Macgregor was in charge of the
church service on Sunday morning
at Elimville. She read Luke 10:25-
37, we sang What a Friend We
Have In Jesus, then Rev. Sheila
gave the children a very interesting
and inspiring message The Friend.
Her message to the adults was enti-
tled The Box. She gave us a lot to
think about.
The Youth Group will be serving
lemonade after each service in July.
Susan Grubb and Crystal Hovius
served it on Sunday.
Next Sunday at the church ser-
vice at Thames Road at 10 a.m.
Jon Passmore and Mark Lynn will
serve lemonade.
On Sunday July 23, the service
will he at Elimville church at 10
a.m. The Official Board will meet
after the service.
On- Tuesday July 25 at 6 p.m.
the Pre -Marriage Event will meet
at the manse.
Personals
Mr: Ray McCurdy returned home
recently from the hospital after
having undergone surgery.
Mrs. Ross Hargreaves fell and
broke her leg recently. She is a pa-
tient in Woodstock Hospital.
At time of writing, George Kel-
lett is a patient in South Huron
Hospital.
Get well wishes arc extended to
all.

don Johns to -the Ball Funeral
Home St. Marys last Monday eve-
ning to pay our respects to the late
Gertie Thomson. Sympathy is ex-
tended to Lloyd and Roxie Thom-
son and their family.
Later in the evening, Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Hodge of Kincardine,
Mr. and Mrs. Ford Stark of St.
Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fisher of
London and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Johns, came and surprised Jean and
Norman on their retirement from
driving buses and also their wedding
anniversary. Happy retirement and
congratulations on your wedding
anniversary.

STAFFA - Hibbert United
Church. was filled to capacity on
Sunday evening, when members
gathered to hear Pastor Debbie
Hoekstra's farewell sermon and to
wish her well with her new charge
in Saskatchewan.
During the service Debbie spoke
with the children about "A time to
say goodbye". She baptized Craig
Stewart Docking, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Docking, and Scott Wil-
liam Dow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Al-
vin Dow.
• Pastor Hoekstra was presented
with a.hand-made quilt and a cheque
from the congregation. A social
hour followed in the Family Life
Centre.
UCW "Eat -out"
The annual "Eat -out" get together
of the Hibbert United Church
Women, was held on Wednesday
when members gathered at a restau-
rant in Exeter for a lovely lunch and
later met in the park for their meet-
ing, the theme of which was
Friendship.
Chairperson Vcrlc Mahon opened
with a reading "Lady of the Cans".
Minutes were read by Gwen Chris-
tie and Florence McPhail gave the
financial statement which led to a
discussion on various issues.
A donation was made to the
church stewards and to Camp Bi-
mini.' A report was given as to the
quilts donated to the Boy Scouts
auction.
A light-hearted stunt in Arithme-
tic brought an enjoyable outing to a
close.

lunch and good conversation.

Committee reports a change in the
format for Friedsburg Days, August
4-5.
Friday night the Bavarian Gardens
are open at 6 p.m. for supper.
Dance off the delicious meal at 9
p.m. to the music provided by "Jas-
Sper".
aturday is family day - an event
for every age. Theme for the family
supper parade "If, I had three wish-
es..." It will leave the ball park at
11:30 a.m.
Kids balloon lift-off will start the
events at the community centre at 2
p.m.
Come early and sec "Big Pop"
Clara Belle the clown .
'The "Frohsin Dancers", London,
will dance hourly. Arm Wrestling
begins at 3 p.m. The Rhine Danube
dancers from Leamington will per-
form in the pavilion.
Horseshoe Pitchers Association
with AB double draw for partners
will have their competition.
The Karate show is at 5 p.m.
A new addition is the Big Jig -saw
puzzle for adults and 12 and under -
prizes galore.
The Miss Friedsburg Contest will
be held at the community centre. If
you have a contestant please contact
Elaine Hayter at 237-3730.
A complete dinner will be ferved
from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Pies can be
purchased from the U.C.W. booth.
Dancing 9-1 in the °Pavilion by
"Golden Tones".
