Parkview Place opens
Lucan senior apartments
are a dream come true
LUCAN - " This complex i§ a
dream come true." -
Those were the words of Lucan
Reeve Norm Steeper during Friday's
official- opening of the new senior
apartments in tyle village of Lucan.
Located on Market street, Lions
Parkview Place provides 35 apart-
ments for seniors and the project
.was initiated by the Lucan Lions
Club and now will be operated by
the Lions Senior's Hoklsing Com-
mittee.
Steeper said the idea for a senior
apartment complex first came to
light in 1974 when the firststudies
and surveys were undertaken.
He continued, -"Today's ceremonies
mark a beginning that we hope in
time will grow into the development
of other facilities, so that Lucan will
be able to provide" accominodation
fbr all our seniors." •
London -Middlesex MP Terry Clif-
ford said, This project is a. good
example of three levels of govern-
ment working together. Middlesex
is in the centre of a new thrust for
seniors to keep everyone in their •
own community.",
He continued, " Special thanks go
to the Lions, president Larry Hot -
son and all who 'pushed and roared'
enough to . get this project fin-
ished,'
Middlesex MPP Doug Reycraft
also paid tribute to the Lions and
Hotson in particular for their fore-
sight and dedication in completing a
challenging struggle. •
Reycraft said, ' The mortgage is
guaranteed by Canada Mortgage and
Housing. In the amount of S2.3
million it's a little -larger than most
of us have to cope with. While
rents from the 3s apartiSTents arc
not enough to cover capital and op-
erating costs, there will be annual
subsidies. The first year this will be
$239,000."
The MPP continued, " These -
grants and subsidies are completely
justified. Theseapartments like
similar projects irrGlencoe and Del-
aware allow seniors a good quality
of life. They can spend their retire-
ment years living independently in
: their own community." .
Middlesex warden Charles Corbett
also commended those who were in- •
evolved in the project and said the
'county would be pleased to work
with the Lions in future projects.
'Members of the committee in ad-
ditioh 4.p chairman -Larry Hotson are
co-chairman Paul Dykeman, secre-
tary John MacDonald, treasurer Pat -
Ryan, Glen Nevin, Paul O'Reilly,
Gary MtFalls and•Barry Hodgins.
Assisting in the ribbon cutting
ceremony was Lafirene Sanderson
on 'behalf of -the residents. She was
the first tenant to move in.

LUCAN - June is gone! Whe
did it go? They say time will heal
broken heart, but -time waits for n
one. What a fantastic day this has
been as the Lord played the major
role in this whole event, the day,
the weather, the food and the shade
and breeze we so really enjoyed. It
was wonderful.
What an exciting worship time
we,had as the children were called
up for a story and each one was to
share something nice that happened
to them. Then everyone sang the

Schinklcshoek stressed because
children mimic their parents it is
important fort parents to mimic
their Father in Heaven. Parents need
to teach their children to walk in
love in the light of God. Also they
need to teach their children to walk
in the .wisdom of God. Then they
will walk in purity, whcn they arc
God's children. •
Rcv. Pieter Schinkleshock re-
viewed the process of ordination.
Mrs. Jane Bende sang'for Rev. and

doctrinal questions. Joined by, two

mitment to the work of the Lord. •
Rcv. Mason spoke from Luke'
9:57-62. Although Jesus is Lord
over the universe, and the Saviour
of the world, often Jesus is not
Savior and Lord in people's lives.
Good's call is extended to each to re-
ceive Christ's forgiveness and sub-
mit to :-lima Then there is a cull
from God for Christian service as in
Matthew 4:19-20. As. Jesus told the
first man, it will cost everything to
follow Him, although His salvation.
is free. To be Jesusdisciple, a per-
son must submit to Jesus' call on
his life. This is shat Rcv. and Mrs.
Schinkleshock have done.
Refreshments were served after'
the service in the Fellowship Hall
of the church.

well-known song "He's Got the
Whole World in his Hands". Then
they came and sat with momvand
dads for the rest. ,
We then greeted each other and
scripture was Genesis 1:1-16. The
text was "He's Got the Whole
World in His Hands". A couple of
questions were asked "Did God
mess up when tie created the earth
and us? With all the pollution of
the earth and the pollution of sin
that is in man,'where is this world
and us leading for? because Romans
3:23 says "For all have signed and -
have fallen short of the Glory of
•God." -
-An answer was given that man
has chosen wrong, that God made
us after His own image, and He
wants us to adopt Him into our
lives and live more like Him each
day.
The steering committee was
called forward today and given an
award fpr forming the foundation
