St. Pauls Mitchell Dublin Denfield Minor soccer results EXETER - The Girls 10 and Un- der soccer team played against Ko- moka Monday, June 5. In a very evenly -matched game Exeter man- aged to win 2-1. Both goals were scored by Adrian- , na deBont and assisted by Brianne Czypha. A penalty shot was stopped by goalie Keri -Ann O'Rourke. Great defensive play displayed by Sandra Steele. Offensively Julie Darling and Amanda Regier showed strength in bringing the ball up the field. In Squirt action this week Exeter I lost 3-0 to a very strong Cold- stream team. Good defensive work by John Gregus, Craig Overholt and Adam Wilts, supported the goaltenders Nick Regier and Kevin Thompson and kept the score close. Exeter 2 defeated Lucan by a score of 6-2 with Chad Montieth scoring five times and Jason Miles scoring rvce. Kim McLean and Daniel Noels both played a strong game. Exeter 3 travelled to Ilderton and played to a 2-2 tie. Both Exeter goals were scored by Ryan Beattie with Erin Robillard and Mathew Knox playing their best game ever. Exeter 4 hosted Lucan and lost 2- 1. Both teams were evenly matched and Adam Regier scored the only goal for Exeter. . The Exeter Atom II team hosted Ilderton and defeated them by a 2-0 score. Goals were scored by Bryan Hayman and Trevor Bocrsma and Moore Fuels outscore G.B. • EXETER - Dave Moore Fuels outscored Grand Bend Pee Wee Girls 22-9 in an Usborne Softball League game played last Thursday in Grand Bend. Christine Morgan batted only twice in the game and belted ho- mers both times,. knocking • in six runs. Jenny McLean and Katie Armstrong also played well for the winning Dave Moore team. Christie McInnes was the start- ing pitcher but Morgan cameon later in the game to relieve. Danielle Van Bruaene and Teresa Petch also played well for Grand Bend. Bantams lose to Goderich 5-1, EXETER - The Exeter Bantam A's Baseball team played in Gode- rich once again Tuesday night, and came out on the short end of a 5-1 score. Thhy were also leading Dash- wood Thursday night 10-9 in the top of the fifth inning when the rains came and the game had to be postponed. It will be replayed in its entirety at a later date. Exeter had only seven hits in the game against Goderich, two from Scott Parsons and two from Ryan Lindenfield, while Fred Steciuk, Steve Farquhar and Derek Vandyk- en each had one hit.•Parsons scored the only run in the game -for Exet- er. - Parsons went the first four in- nings on the mound and struck out two and walked two. Ryan Stuart pitched the next two innings, walked two and struck out one and Mark Glavin pitched the last in- ning and struck out one. Exeter was having one of their best offensive showings of the year against Dashwood but the rain will force them 10 do it all over again -after it was postponed. The locals had scored four ruk's- on four hits in each of the first two innings, while adding three runs on three hits in the fourth inning. Three Exctcr pitchers struck out a total of seven Dashwood . batters while they walked six. G.B. Atoms edge Hensall GRAND BEND - The G• rand Bend Atom Boys baseball team edged Hensatl 8-7 in a game June 8 for their gird win of the young season. Bryce. Kadlccik and Stephen and Brian Ducharme `all made good catches to help Grand Bend to the win. - They were scheduled to play in Fullarton May 31 but that game was postponed because of heavy rains. The team had a photo session in Grand Bend and took on Hensall, in Hensall Saturday afternoon. The Grand Bend Pee Wee Boys and Exeter played to an unlucky 13- 13 draw in Exeter Monday night in the Usborne District Softball League. Exeter had jumped out to an 8-2 lead after the third innings but Grand Bend rallied for seven in the fourth to lead 9-8. Grand Bend added four in the fifth inning and Exeter managed to get five to deadlock the game for good. Exctcr was trying to get more runs before the Jasen Woadiey-to-Jake Morgan double play snuffed outthat rally. . Kyle Vermuellcn and Jake Mor-' gan of Grand Bend belted back-to- back homers in the last inning to help offset the three -run homer and triple hit by Exeter's Trevor Gre- goire. . Troy Stellingwcrff has four hits in his last nine trips to the plate for Grand Bend while teammate Jeremy Wilde has gone seven for his last 11, a tok�nnd .636 pace over the last throe garlic. The tie set Grand Bend's league record at 2-2-1. David Marshall got the shutout. Matt Szabq-and Lucan Forest also played a strong game for Exeter. Last week the Girls 10 and Under team won against Glencoe by for- feit. Glencoe showed up with only five players. The two teams were put together which resulted in a 1-0 win for the Exeter girls squad. The PeeWees travelled to Lucan to face a very aggressive Lucan team. Many excellent saves by the two goalies Dennis Welch and Wil- lie Partridge allowed Exeter to win 8-2. Two outstanding goals were one scored by Sivichay Sengkhound- many on a pass by Brad Skirten and Souban Inlakhana scored on a head ball on a -pass by Sivichay. Other goal scorers were Joel Campbell with three and Gavin Snell with a single goal. The Under -17 team travelled to Il- derion and were defeated 5-3. Single goals were scored by Nicki Szabo, Dean Pfaff and Shawn McFalls. Exeter 1 4-1 winners in St. Columban ST. COLUMBAN - The Exeter 1 Atoms Soccer team played in St. Columban last Monday night against St. Columban 1 and came away with a hard-fought 4-1 victo- ry. Exeter got a pair of goals by Da- vid Farquhar and singles by Greg Geoffrey and Scott Gilfillan. The whole Exeter team played well but thestrong defensive show- ing was led by halfback ; Jeff MacLean Scott Rasenberg, Jacob Bruxer, and Cameron Sadler. The Exeter 1 Atoms were sched- uled to play in Exeter Monday night against St. Columban_11.
