Coe cit was told that the ABCA totally agrees with the findings of . the study that the erosion control: does go all the way to the water's . edge. . Upon the-ABCA's approval, council passed the resolution to the allcw the-ABCA to go ahead with its next step, to prepare ,the grant that will help fund the survey and the solutions.. Council wastold that the province will pay 85 per cent, the ABCA will kick in 1.5 per cent" and the village will also pay 1.5 per cent but the last 12 per cent must also be -paid for. Part of the grant will go towards protecting private property that has already been built to close to the river's edge. Due to that problem council thought. it would be a good, idea if council reduced thc rent on .the Laughton Building on Morenz Lane since that hadn't received any inquir- ies yet this year because it is so In his reports :councillor- John McDowell said he was appalled at the condition of the-interiorof tl • bath house after he finally got a look at the inside before the long weekend. _ "It did not look as though it had 'been cleaned in several years," he said. • Councillor Bruce Woodley. then informed McDowell and the rest of council that he thinks the ceiling in the. bath house may have, to be. ripped out .because it may contain asbestos. He thought that the roof should be checked and if it does_con- tain-asbestos it should be ripped out immediately if it is proven to be hazardous. . - *: * • * Hershie Sivkin, of College Rick- shaw appeared as a.delegation before council at their regular meeting last Tuesday afternoon, asking permis- sion to grant him licenses to run three Rickshaws on the streets of 'the village. Council' was not sure what exact- ly ;has to be granted to allow -the rickshaws to _operate on the streets, but reeve Bob Sharen said he "would do what he*could or whatev- cr was deemed neccessary" to get them running. Sivkin'felt that since the rickshaws are a type of leisurely taxi service, he would likely need taxi permits, although th'e rick- shaws are pulled by hand. Sivkin showed council some pic- ture of the rickshaws to back his re- quest and said he has already set up in Port Dover, St. Catharines and Windsor and thought Grand Bend Would mac another good location because of the great numbers of tourists and it would add to the fla- vor of the village. Woodley also liked the idea and asked for the first ride. Guides win cords - Five members of the Grand Bend Girl Guides Cords.
