EXETER, - Exeter Royals ran
their South Perth Fastball Lbaguc
record to 3-2 last week as they split
two games.
On Thursday night at The South
Huron Rec Centre, they edged the
visiting Fullarton A's 3-2.

EXETER - On Tuesday, May 23,
20, four man teams competed in the
first Scramble event of the year at
Ironwood Golf Course which was
sponsored by Labatt's Breweries.
Ten of the teams posted under -par
scores for .the night. Leading the
way with a four -under par 31 was
the squad of Mike "The Hammer"
Brintncll, Davc 1-loltzmann, Bob
and Dave Russell. Their birdie on
hole 6 was the only one not
matched winning thein the S42.00
skins pot.
Close behind at 32 was the tcam
of Jim Russell, Rick Gilfillan, Rob
and Brian Baker. Third place went

nings for the victory. Heywood al-
lowed two, runs on five hits. He
. struck out five and hit a batter
while not allowing any walks.
Greg Wise pict cd up the save
with two innings of shutout relief.
Jim Lewis and Jeff Pfaff led the
offence with two hits each. Rod
Johnson, Greg Wise and Scott
Brintnell added singles.
On Sunday afternoon, a short-
handed Royal's squad dropped a 3-0
decision to the Creamery Juniors in
St. Marys: A lack of offense once
again proved to be their downfall as
they could manage only two hits,
singles by Greg Wise and Rod
Johnson.
Wise was the losing pitcher in a
complete game effort, allowing
three runs, two on eight hits. He
struck out three, allowed no walks
and hit two batters. Wise's scason
record is now one win and two loss-
es and the Royals have failed to
score a run in both losses.
Next scheduled Royal's game will
be at home Thursday night at 9:00
with St. Marys Staffcns providing
the opposition.

EXETER - Bright sunny skies
prevailed for thc opening of thc
1989 Lawn Bowling season with
42 members participating.
The greens wcrc in excellent
shape for the two draws in the af-
ternoon. After the games they all
rctircd to thc Club house where a
sumptuous pot -luck supper was
enjoyed, convened by Ruth Skin-
ner and her committee.
Following thc lunch President
Ernie Chipchase conducted a busi-
ness meeting whcn plans for the
coming .season wcrc discussed.

A jitney night with proceeds
going to the -War Amputation So-
ciety and several social events
wcrc planned. The club is open to
men and women all ages. Jitneys
arc held onTucsday and Thursday
nights with a social jitney on Sat-
urday night.
Six invitational tournaments are
planned with two of these mixed
and two ladies tournaments are
held dunitg the summer.

Exeter Tigers
lose first game
EXETER - The Exeter Tigers,
one of Exeter's T -ball teams for
four to six year olds, played their
first game of the season on Satur-
day against the Grand Bend Coloni-
als.
For their first game both tcams
played well with the Tigers scoring
20 runs and the Colonials 26 runs.
Jasoh Davey and Dallas Giles led
an aggressive defence for the Tigers.
While at bat, Geoffrey Duckworth
topped the scoring for the Tigers
with three runs. Other runs wcrc
scored by Megan Burke, Dillon
Carr, Fallo, Dallas and Jcnna Giles,
Jared Neville, Zak Homuth, Laura
Cooper, Danny Ferguson, Lyndsay
Lewis and Jason Davey.
Playing an enthusiastic game as
well were Amy Taylor, Mallory
Atthill, Melissa DcYoung, and
Tommy Cooper. •
The Tigers will be playing in
Hensall .at 9:30 a.m. Saturday -
morning.
