THAMES ROAD - The United
Church Women were in charge of
the church service on Sunday morn-
, ing. Junc Stewart welcomed every-
one and gave the Call To Worship.
The Joyful Noise Folk Group of
St. Stephens' Anglican Church
Choir, London, sang many wondcr
song; the congregation joined in on
some of the hymns.
Beatrice Dawson rcad a pocm
"Lose Or Win". Dorothy. Duncan
read the scripture.
Margaret Stewart told thc chil-
dren's stdry "A Special Toy." The
choir did an action song in connec-
tion with this . -Margaret Stewart
read a poem "The World Is Mine,"
and also gave a very inspiring mes-
sage and led in prayer.
Judith Parker and Janis Richard-
son received the offering and the
Joyful "Noise Choir sang -the offcr-
tory.prftycr. to the .tune of Edel-
weiss.
June Stewart"closed with prayer
and the choir and Elirnvillc people
. went to the basement where we all
partook of delicious smorgasbord
meal which brought a very inspir-
ing morning service to a close.
Coming events
On Sunday Junc 4 at the regular
church services communion will be
served at Elimvillc at 10 a.m. and
at Thames Road at.11:15
- On Monday June 5 at 8 p.m. the
U.C.W. will hold their mccting.
. Mrs. Dale Good of Exeter will
show slides on Bangladesh. She
and her husband adopted two chil-
dren from there.
On Wednesday Junc 7, 9:30 -
11:30 a.m. the Sunbeams will meet
at Thames Road. 1nfnts to age

Seniors enjoy
trip to Falls
- AILSA CRAIG - On May 11,
members of thc Happy Gang Scn-
iors and friends, 44 altogether, en-
joyed a trip to the Niagara Falls
area. Our efficient bus driver Peter -
McNaughton took . us to many
places of interest.
Althobgh it was sunny when we
started out, by the time we stopped
for our noon meal at the Beacon
Motor Inn near St. Catharines it
had started to rain. •
-At the falls thc tulips, daffodils
and pretty shrubs were very nice.
The, peach and cherry blossoms
- wcrc lovely. The weather was not
fit for us to walk near the -falls.
However, our driver made every ef-
fort to show us.as much as possi-
ble. Many thanks to Levi and
Harold for planning and arranging
such .a nice outing for us all.
The group met at the Legion
Hall for their monthly potluck Last
week. • Ruth Shepherd was at
the piano as we sang grace.
President Lcvi White presided for
a short business meeting. We dis-
cussed the Seniors' Games at Exet-
er -next month. Some of our mem-
bers plan to compete:
We welcomed Gordon Phillips of
California, who was visiting his
sister Myrtle Dixon.
We had seven tables for euchre.
Winners were: High prize - Ruth
Guest and Beckic Ross. Lone
hands - Sadie Graham and Jcnny
Harttc; Low - Syblc Stephenson
and Harry Shepherd.
We will meet again on Junc 7 at
1:30. All seniors welcome.
Clandeboye
CLANDG13OYh - Funeral ser-
vice was held on WEdnesday from
the Haskell Funeral Home, Lucan,
• for one of Ctandelxvc's oldest resi-
dents, Wilfred Cunningham, who
passed away, May 21, in his 100th
year.' Wilfred was born and. raised
in the Clandeboye' arca, "where he
farmed for many years.
Hc was predeceased by his wife,
Audcnc Ritchie in 1979, and a
• daughter, 'Grace, age 4 in 1934.
Due to failing health he spent the
past seven years • in Craigholmc
Nursing llornc in Ailsa Craig, but
was still able to enjoy visitors and
get around in his wheelchair right
to the last.
He is survived by his -daughter

James Church, to honour Bonnie •
Lynn, bride -elect of June 17th.

community as well -as many other
lovely gifts from friends and fami-
ly. Cake and icc cream was served
'and a social time cnjoycd by all. "
Sam, Nanccy and Mary Taylor of
Swift Current, Saskatchewan, vis-
ited recently with Mary and Wilm-
er Scott and family.
An open meeting of the St.
James Cemetery Board will be held
on Thursday evening, Junc 10, at 8
p.m. at St. James Church, Clande-
boyc,

On Thursday, Junc 8 at 8 p.m.
the Official Board meeting will be
held at Thames Road.
On Friday= June 9 at 6 p.m. the
Youth Group ( and all interested
young people) will play mini -putt
at St. Marys. Please bring $1.75 -
for the game and extra if you want a
snack. Met' at manse at 6 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne,
Mrs. Stan Fraync, Mrs. Frayne Par-
sons, and Mrs. Marguerite Harper
attended the funeral of their cousin
the Tate Rev. Barry Passmore at
Knox United Church, Owen Sound,
on Tuesday at 11 a.. The late Rcv.
Passmore was married to the former
Mary Margaret Essery. He was in
his 58th year.. He preached the ser-
mon at our Centennial Church ser-
vice in 1981. Sympathy is extend-
ed to wife, family and relatives.
The Usbome Guild played at Ex-
eter Villa on Thursday evening.
Mr.'and Mrs. Arnold Cann, Mr.
and Mrs. Mac Hodgcrt, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Hodgert; Laurel Miner,
Joanne Hodgen and Patricia Hodgen
were guests at the wedding of Karen
Gail McLure to Eugene Rodney
Luxton in Trinity United Church,
Wallaccburg on Saturday and the re-
ception at Oakwood Inn, Wallace -
g, Saturday evening. Congratu-
lations to Karen and Eugene,

spent the weekend at her home
