By Margaret Hoggarth
KIPPEN - In last month's report Is
mistakenly stated that the owner of
Spring Creek Farm was Paul Alex-
ander, this should have read Mary
Alexander. 1 am sorry for any in-
convenience this may have caused.
We had a jolly good meeting as
usual on Tuesday, May 16, when
11 members met at the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Authority
building. We were met and wel-
comed by Kathy Monk, who filled
us in on who, what, why, why and
where of the Conservation.
Kathy mentioned this A.B.C.A.
was established in 1946. There arc
now 38 authorities across Ontario.
Letter to
the Editor
Dear Sir:
In 1961 I travelled for 7 1/2
weeks in .Spain, and I have been
twice (15 weeks in 1959 and seven
weeks in 1975) in Latin America:
Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay, Argen-
tina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Co-
lombia, Panama, Guatemala and
Mexico. From September 7, 1985,
until March 31, 1987, I lived in
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
The only language I learned as a
child in 'Toronto where I was born
was English. As an adult I haye
studied Spanish and Frcnch. From
Steptemper 5, 1960, until August
1, 1961, I lived in Paris where I
worked in a big record, radio, TV
store.
Now I would like to speak Span-
ish regularly with a congenial per-
son whose first language is Span-
ish, and who lives not too far from
Seaforth. Among my interests are
music (jazz and classical - especial-
ly Mozart), politics, history, soci-
ology, French and Spanish, and
baseball.

Kathy told us that conservation
meant using something wisely, us-
ing it now and in the future.
She enlarged on the nine areas in
the program, namely: flooding;
soil erosion; water supply; water
quality; recreation; forestry; fish and
wildlife; environmentally signifi-
cant areas, and lastly Cultural and
Historical resources. Kathy then
led us on a tour of the offices and
closed by saying "It is important
we reserve our resources as they are
limited." She was thanked by
Grace Drummond.
We then travelled to President
Drummond's house where she hand-
ed out the new programs for the
coming year, thanking Helen
MacLean for typing and putting
them together for us. As usual
