Boy Choir sings May 28
EXETER - Gavin Poole, Jeremy,
Christopher and Stephen Straw will
be among the 33 -voice Stratford
Boy Choir this Sunday, May 28, at
7:30 p.m. for the choir's Annual
Spring Concert at St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, Stratford.
They will be joined by their guests
for the evening, the Seaforth Bar-
bershop Harmony Kings.
This Past spring, the boys have
been actively involved in concerts
throughout Perth County as guests
of the Mitchell and District High
School; the boys, combined their
singing talents with those of the
Mitchell choir and the choir from
Gettysburg, Penn. In addition, the
Stratford Boy Choir entertained the
Nurses

Women's Institute attended the
North Middlesex District W.I. An-
nual held at Poplar Hill Baptist
Church on Tuesday, May 13.

Olive -P. Hodgins read two
poems, A mother gives thanks and
a mother's day wish. She also
spoke about self defence, precau-
-tionary measures if walking alone,
locks in the home, vandalism, re-
placing stolen cards, and crimestop-
pers.
Members participated in a ma-
chinery safety true or false test and
an exercise in finding the hazards in
a multiple farm work -Operation pic-
ture. .
President Muriel Lewis read a
poem about Spring and led the
business discussion. A short report
of the district annual was given and
plans made for the ncxt meeting.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Oak-
ley, Mrs-. Hodgins and the hostess.

Rev. Dr. T. Ristine officiating.
The bride was attended by maid
of honour Joanne Moir, Hensall
and bridesmaids Charlene Day -
man, RR3 Kippen, Linda Schon,
RR4 Denfield and. Lisa Hedley,
London. Flowergirl was Jenna
Dayman, Hensall and Danny
Moir, Hensall, was ring bearer.
Rick Hall, Lucan, was best
man, and ushers were Jerry Day -
man, Lucan, Jeff Pedersen, RR3
Denfield and John Hedley, Lon-
don. Marlene Mathers, Exeter
was soloist. A reception fol-
lowed at the Lucan Community
Centre. After -a wedding trip to
Nassau, Bahamas, the couple
will be residing in London.

At the recent Stratford Music Fes-
tival the Choir received 87 marks
and first place.
Thc boys participated in the Dedi-
cation Service for the 1989 Festival
Season at the Third Stage on May
• 14. The next day choirconductor
Brian Emery led the boys on a tour
of four Stratford and Shakespeare
arca schools, allowing the choir to
demonstrate their musical talents as
well as Tulfilling their wish to per-
form for their peers.
During June, the boy Choir will
participate in the official opening of
the new offices for the Sebringvillc
Detachment of the OPP.
Finishing thc school year, the
boys will travel to Toronto on a
Listening Excursion, enjoying din-
ner out at Lime Rickey's, entertain-
ing the staff of the restaurant with
the song"Ice Crcarn", and complet-
ing this outing by attendinga con-
cert at the Roy Thomson Hall lea-
turinlg the Harlem Boy Choir.
Thc Exeter members of the choir
would like to extend a hearty thank
you to all those cheese lovers who
have supported the choir with their
orders this year. As a result of suc-
cessful fund raising, the boys will
join others celebrating thc 350 an-
niversary of Stratford, Connecticut
during the early part of August.
