Alcohol ban
on weekends
EXETER - An alcohol ban will
be implemented at Parkhill Conser-
vation Area on the holiday week-
ends in 1989. This includes: Victor-
ia Day Weekend, May 19,20,21,22;
Canada Day Weekend June 30, July
1,2,3,; Civic Holiday Weekend Au-
gust 4,5,6,7; Labour Day Weekend
September 1,2,3,4; Thanksgiving
Weekend October 6,7,8,9.
In 1988, there was no alcohol ban
on the Victoria Day weekend. Ex-
cessive noise led the Ausable Bay-
field -Conservation Authority to ban
on the remaining 1988 holiday
weekends. The ban contributed to
enjoyable camping for everyone. At
the same time, attendance did not
decrease while the ban was in ef-
fect.
Anyone wishing further informa-
tion should contact the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Authority at
235-2610 or the Parkhill Conserva-
tion Area at 294-0114.

Loan program -
to continue
TORONTO - The allocation sys-
tem for distributing funds to mu-
nicipalities under the Tile Drainage
Act Loan Pr6gram adopted last
year will be continued for 1989-
1990, Ontario Ministry of Agricul-
ture and Food Jack Riddell an-
nounced Friday.
The interest rate applied to de-
bentures purchased by the province
under the program will remain at
eight percent.
"We expect this system to work
even .more effit:iently this year
since farmers and municipalities
are familiar with all the details
from last year," said Riddell.
Municipalities receive an initial
budget for the tile loans based on
their level of spending over the
past three years. Adjustments to
these allocations are made through-
out the year to reflect actual de-
mand for loans in each municipali-
ty. .
Loa% to any one individual may
not exceed 75 percent of the cost of
tile drainage works, the amount re-
quested by the farmer or $20,0Q,
whichever is less.
AIDS video
CLINTON - Awareness of AIDS
has increased substantially, with
media reports of personal tragedies,
medical advances and even TV dra-
ma. But the effect of AIDS on
business and employees is only
now beginning to be felt.
On May 16, the Huron County
Health Unit will host a national
satellite videoconference caped
AIDS In The Workplace" at the Hu-
ronview Auditorium, Clinton, On-
tario. The three hour videoconfer-
ence has been produced by Sheridan
Videoconferencing in association
with the Federal Centre for AIDS
(FCA).
"AIDS In The Workplace" is a
working videoconference designed
so that participants will have a clear
idea of the workplace issues and
sufficient knowledge to begin to de-
velop an AIDS policy for their own
company.
The moderator of the national
videoconference is Broadcaster
Adrienne Clarkson and national
panelists include FCA Director
Alastair Clayton, Dr. David Roy
founder of the Centre for Bioethics
in Montreal and other representa-
tives of business, industry and the
law who are knowledgeable about
AIDS policy. Case studies of per-
sons with AIDS (PWA) and their
experiences in the workplace will
be presented during the conference.
The conference will take place
May 16, 1989, from 12:45 p.m. to
4:00 p.m.

CLINTON - This year's Junior
Agriculturalist program is off to a
_fast start, with applications com-
ing in daily. The deadline has been
extended past the original deadline
of April 28.
This employment program is an
opportunity for young people from
15 to 24, with no farm experience,
to live and work on a farm for
eight weeks in the summer. The
youth is paid a training allowance
of $35 per day and has every other
weekend off. -
The farmer pays $17 of this and
is required to provide room and
board. The host family is also re-
quired to train the young person
and to encourage involvement in
community activities such as 4-H
and Junior Farmers.
This is an excellent experience
for both the youth and the host
farmer. -
