HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes Advocate, 1989-05-10, Page 12Page 12 Times -Advocate, May 10, 1989 Improvised comedy - Kathryn Greenwood of London's Second City Comedy Troupe gets a few laughs while coaching St. Boniface teacher Lorne Rideout and Roberta Stemp from Goderich's St. Marys School in a session of improvisational comedy. The troupe were in Seaforth Saturday moming for a Huron Perth Separate School Board professional development day and started the day off with "Humour in the Workplace." The PD day was organized by Exeter's Precious Blood principal Marg Nelson. Zurich personals column ZURICH - A bridal shower was held for Brenda Honaard at Si. Pe- ter's Parish Hall (St. Joseph) on April 30. The family of George and Maria Mathonia attended the graduation ceremony of their daughter Mary - Ann McIver in Owen Sound on April 29 from Georgian College. A nice family get-together and dinner was held at the home of Mo- zart and Julie Gelinas Jr. on Sun- day, May 7 in honor of their daugh- ter Chantel's first Communion. A special Mass for all the First Com- municants was held at St. Boniface Church at 9:00 a.m. followed by a social hour in the school gym. Chantel's godparents Mark and Cathy Kelly and family from North Bay were also present for the cele- bration along with family members from London, Toronto, and Zurich, r along with Fr. Hayes and sister Mary Margaret. Birthday wishes are extended to Hcrb Neeb who turned 85 on May 3. Wishes for a speedy recovery arc extended to Belle Merner, a patient in South Huron Hospital. Zurich gearing up for agricultural fair By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - The Zurich Agricultu- ral Society held a meeting at the Township Hall last Thursday night. The main topic on the agenda was the upcoming Zurich Fair planned for July 21 and 22. Committee members gave reports of the progress of the Fair Queen Competition, the Talent Show, the Baby Show, the Horse Show and Baking and Sewing displays. There will be a car advertising the Zurich fair in the Hensall Fair pa- rade on Saturday, June 10. This year will mark the 125th anniver- sary of the Zurich Fair so a special dinner is planned for July 8 at the Zurich Community Centre. Tickets are now on sale at $10 per person, including entertainment. St. Boniface Students of St. Boniface School are enjoying going bowling during the month of May at the Town and Country Lanes as part of their physical education program. Women's Institute The Zurich W.I. will be celebrat- ing their 75th anniversary on June 19. The new president of the organ- ization is Kay Hay. The next meeting will feature a special trip to the Goderich Mu- seum on June 5. Anyone interested can call 235-4752.
