Province to fund H.P program

for Huron, today announced provin.
cial funding of S14,000 annually to
Group Delta to enhance its family
violence counselling program. The
program is sponsored by and located
at the Huron Perth Centre for Chil-
dren in Clinton. The announce-
ment was made on behalf of John
Sweeney, Ontario's Minister of
Community. and Social Services.
Riddell said the ministry resourc-
es will cover costs associated with -
additional -staffing and the operating
of the program. The service pro-
vides individual and group counsel .
ling for perpetrators of family vio-
lence. It is also expanding to
include counselling and support -ser-
vices for victims of domestic vio=

the problem of family violence
through its comprehensive counsel=

LONDON - The best eggs in On-
tario were all under one roof at the.
Poultry Industry Conference and
Exhibition, held April 12-13 in
London. The eggs. were there to
compete for top honours- in .eight
ca;egorics in the Ontario egg Pro-
ducers'. Marketing Board's 9th An-
nual Egg Quality Contest.
Winners of the Contest's best.
Grade A. Extra Large Category were
Andy and Nanccy Orosz of Ilderton..
They were on hand to receive the
Intervet Canada Award during the
official trophy presentation, held
during the Exhibition. In addition
to a trophy, plaque, and cash prize
the Orosz's also won an all-
expenses-paid.weekend for two in
Toronto. •
Ivan Hodgins of Merton was this
'years winner in the Ungraded White
category and was awarded the Mas-
ter Feeds Trophy at the official tro-
phy presentation which was held
during the Exhibition.
Judging. for this year's 89 entries
from across Ontario was done by
Officials from Agriculture -Canada.
According to Contest organizers.
this year's entries were of the high-
est quality ever..The Egg Quality
Contest is held each year to pro-
mote egg quality among. Ontario
egg producers and consumers.
$80,000 grant

the Ministry of the Environment
for one year of water quality re -
The purpose of the rescarc is to
study the.relationship between soil
types, manure application and the
water quality of the receiving water-
course. Through this research, a
rate of manure applicationwill be
determined which will not impair
the water quality of the receiving
watercourse. • -
The rese.irch will be conducted on
five farnrywithin the watershed of
• the Dcsjardinc Drain in Stephen
township. The same custom appli-
cator will apply the manure once in
each of the months of May, Au-
gust, September, October and *'
vember. The manure, soil Ind
tercourse will all be ' 1 it
bacteria.
A.B.C.A. employees, Donna
Dean, P,-incipal Investigator and
Mary Ellen Foran, Research Advi-

conduct the research in consultation
