The case of the missing hat
Passing the hat - Students of the Sunshine Kids Nursery School had a great time trying on Exeter
Police Chief Larry Hardy's hat when they toured the Police Station last Wednesday. Another high-
light of the morning was being locked up in the cells, rumoured to be an alternative to day care.
Guest minister at Revival Centre
LUCAN - Spiritual Renewal
Services started Monday evening at
Lucan Revival .Centre. After Tim
Kritzer led in worship singing,
Mrs. Wanda Courtis sang He's
More Than Wonderful.
Guest minister' Rev. Gordon
Williams, of Good Samaritan
Community Church in Waterloo,
said his church is to equip people
to minister for the Lord. From
Mark 16: 15-20, Rev. Williams
stressed that although the gospel
has been preached for many years,
there are still so many who have
never heard it.
Rev. Williams, raised in a
church, did not know Jesus person-
ally until one of his youth group
was saved at a Billy Graham cru-
sade. This young man told him
how to become a Christian.
Tuesday evening Doug Butler
was the song leader. Rev. Gordon
Williams ministered from 1 John
1:1-3. This scripture tells the. story
of the gospel that Christians are
supposed to be sharing with oth-
ers.
Pieter Schinklcshock Thursday
evening led the worship in song.
Mrs. Pat Halton beautifully sang
Seekers of Your Heart. She later
sang Clavary's Love.
Rev. Roger Mason introduced
Rev. Stanley-1lammond , from
London as guest speaker. Rev.
Hammond said (god's living word
has a message 1tn everyone. From
Luke 15:25- i', Ire lulkcd about the

centre of church worship.
At the Friday evening service of
Spiritual Renewal, Dan and Cheryl
Wuerch sang Through it all. Rev.
Stanley Hammond from Acts 28:1-
6, said it was a universal necessity
for God to change our minds. Be-
cause people are the raw material of
trouble, God is in the business of
changing their minds to salvation.
Sunday morning Pieter Schinkle-
shock led the worship service. Mrs.
Wander Courtis sang More than
Wonderful. Rev. Roger Mason
ministered from Ephesians 4:1-3.
Although several ,organizations
have tried to unite mankind in
some doctrine, the only unity God
calls for • us unity in the Spirit of
God in the bond of peace.
Rev. Roger Mason conducted the
Sunday evening service. Tony
Laughrene, retiring teacher of
Christianview Bible College, spoke
from Ephesians 4:1-4 and 13.

Living Word church
plans garage, bake sale
LUCAN - Sunday service opened
with a warm. welcome to visitors.
The service was jointly led by the
Pastor and members of the Youth
Group. Surprisingly the young folk
were awake after an overnight swim
and video celebration.
Our message today centered on
the theme of "Giving Our All To
Jog, s". Two women who had little
to ive, gave their all as told in
Luk 7:36-50 and Luke 21:1-4.
Ho blessed Jesus was by these ac-
tions and today we too can bless Je-
sus by not holding back, but by
giving in our everyday life. We can
give to the glory of the Lord by be-
ing a blessing to one another and
Jesus Christ as we act and speak.
We are -pleased to announce our
first annual garage and bake sale run
by the Full Circle Fellowship
Group. It will be held on May 13
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Don and
Beth Miller's home at 286 Lewis
Avenue, Lucan. Pick up of large
and small items will take place the
week preceding the sale. If anyone
wishes to donate items please call
Dennis and Mary Maguire at 227-
4323.
Bible study and Music fellowship
continue as weekly events. The
youth group is full of surprises and
are off on bikes for a picnic.
If anyone wishes further informa-
tion please call the pastor, Darrell
Shaule at 227-1296.
Ten hurt in four accidents
LUCAN - Ontario Provincial Po-
lice at Lucan investigated four acci-
dents which resulted in 10 people
being injured this week. These mis-
haps all occurred in Arva and along
Highway 4.
Luckily all injuries were minor
in nature. There was a total of eight
accidents during the week; two were
classed as non -reportable and two
classed as property damage only.
Many drivers often question po-
lice about the dement point system.
The point system is designed to
identify persistent traffic violators.
A driver starts his driving record
with no points. If convicted of cer-
tain traffic offences, demerit points
are recorded on your record for a two
year, period.
At nine points, drivers may be re-
quired to attend a personal interview
to discuss their records and give rea-
sons why their licence shouldn't be
suspended. They may also be re-
quired to complete a driver re-
examination. At fifteen points,
your driver's licence is suspended
for 30 days and the points are re-
duced to seven. Further suspensions
due to demerit points are for six
months.
The point system for offences is
as follows: 7 Points - Failing to re-
main at the scene of an accident; 6
Points - Careless driving, racing,
failing to stop for school buses and
exceeding the speed limit by 30 to
49 km/h, following too closely;
5 Points - Bus driver failing to
stop at unprotected railway cross-
ing;
rossing; 4 Points - Exceeding speed
limit by 30 to 49 km/h, following
too closely;
3 Points - Exceeding speed limit
16 to 29 km/h, failing to yield
right of way, failing to stop, diso-
beying traffic signal or police offi-
cer, improper passing, crowding
driver's seat, operating venicte on
closed highway, drive wrong way
on one way street or divided high-
way; 2 Points - Failing to dim
headlamps, prohibited or improper
turns, failing to signal properly, un-
necessary slow driving and pedestri-
an crossovers.
Probationary drivers are allowed
only six demerit points before their
licences are suspended for a 30 day
period.
Centralia
by Mrs. Tom Kooy
MINIM
CENTRALIA - Sympathy is ex-
tended to Mrs. Ieleen Pullman and
family and Ron and Roy Pullman
in the death of a husband and father,
the late Cleve Pullman. Cleve was
a regular attendant at our communi-
ty euchres.
Elizabeth Conlin, Tom and I were
Saturday evening dinner guests with
Mrs: Jessie Lewis of McGillivray.
Forty-one criminal and generai
occurrences were investigated during
the last week. Three thefts, four
damages, three break-ins and two as-
saults were among complaints re-
ceived. Although damages, thefts
and break-ins are not numerous in
our weekly report, these types of
crimes are constantly occurring.
Protect yourself by crimeproofing
your property and by reporting all
suspicious persons or vehicles to
police. If you know any facts or cir-
cumstances surrounding a crime call
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-265-4444
for Middlesex County Crime doesn't
pay but Crime Stoppers does.
On February 20, Lucan OPP ar-
rested and charged two men in con-
nection with several area break-ins.
Last week these men were sentenced
in London Court. Robcrt Lotz, 26,
received 3 1/2 years in jail and Ja-
mie Suplat, 18, received an 18
month jail term. The arrests and
convictions of these men were pos-
sible because of local citizens re-
porting a suspicious vehicle. This
information helped police track
these offenders and lead to their be-
ing brought to Court. Presenting
and reporting crime is everyone's
business. The Ontario Provincial
Police in Lucan greatly appreciates
your help in this area.
