There is still time to register for the Kink:tte-sponsored babysitting course. Children 12 or older can sign up for the seven -week course beginning in May by calling Pam Mallette or dropping off 515 at 9 York Crescent in Hensall. Talent Show Call Jen Taylor if you would like to show off your talent at the Tal- ent Show at the Hensall Spring Fair this year. All ages and all kinds of talent are welcome. This is not a competition and there will be a prize for everyone who takes part. Nursery draw The winner of the Hensall Nur- sery School draw for spring house- cleaning was Sandra Hayter of Var- na. While the nursery school thanks everyone who bought tick- ets for the fundraiser, they regret everyone else is just going to have to do theirown housecleaning now! Yard sale Those planning to join in the Community Yard Sale on May 28 are asked to call Anne or Luanne at the Village Office. They will glad- ly add your name and sale location to theplacemat map. It doesn't cost a cent and it makes sure peo- ple know where you are. The maps will be going to other communities in the arca in the weeks prior to the sale. The more sales which appear on the map, the larger crowd it will attract to town. May 28 will be busy day in Hen- sall in other ways too. A Fire- man's Breakfast will begin the morning at the Fire Hall, followed by a bike rodeo and tricycle decorat- ing contest behind the Village Of- fices. • A puppet show in the library will be conducted by "puppet lady" Mar- ion Doucette in the afternoon. Library This Saturday morning from 10 - noon, all kids learning to read or who like to read are welcome to drop by the Hensall Library. Jenni- fer and Jodi will be on hand to read with you, enjoy a few songs and laughs. Bring along a favorite sto- ry to share or enjoyone of ours. Carmel Presbyterian Congratulations are in order for Rev. Mark Gaskin and his wife Ka- thy on the arrival of their first son, Oliver Thomas Bennett. The "Torchmen" will be guests of the church on April 30 at'7 p.m. This group was nominated as the number one Canadian male gospel singing group 1986-88. Tickets are $3 and $5 and are available at Sclah Books in Exeter, Radiant Life Cen- tre, Clinton, or contact the Rev. Mark Gaskin. United Church The Pastoral Care and Oversight Committee are making their routine visit through Hensall at 8 p.m. April 27. An members are encour- aged to attend. Personals Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily of Leonard Noakes and family on the death of his younger brother, Kenneth Noakes who passed away in Burlington last Friday. Queensway 9Vws HENSALL - With the beautiful sunny weather we're having, resi- dents are making plans regarding what we should plant in our garden. Tomatoes seem to be heading the list. Tuesday morning we all loosened up at fun and fitness. Rev. Van Es- sen led our worship service in the afternoon. Green Thumbs Club met on Thursday and residents repotted and freshened upsome of our plants. Friday, ueensway Agriculture Club were taken on a tour of Pen - hales' Wagon and Harness shop. It was a very interesting afternoon as Tom Penhale showed us beautiful completed carriages and those in the beginning stages. We also saw pic- tures of carriages shipped to Hawaii and California. We met Penhales', master carver who does the intricate carvings on the wagons, and also produces carved replicas of horses. We had a delightful time made pos- sible by Mr. Penhale and our-yolun- teer drivers Eileen Rannie, Helen Anderson and Carol Gascho. Coming events: April 27 at 2 p.m. is a birthday party with enter- tainment by the Huron Strings, and May 7 at 2 p.m. a "Dog Obedience Demonstration" by Robert Johnston of London. The event, organized by Joanne Rowcliffe-and Marg Cole raised funds for the World Wildlife Fund. At the front table are Janet Traquair, Ka- tie Seaton, Charmaine Dupuis, Priscilla Lambert, Louise Wood and Katie Rathwell. At the second table are Krista Gass, Leann Con- sitt, Janine Hayter and Karrie Consitt. At the third table are Shel- ly Gardner, Jenny Hercia, Kari. Taylor, and Christine Bengough. Donna and Brent Bell presented Dalrymple with the Murray Bell Memorial Award on the first year the award has been offered.
