Officers elected for Dashwood Women's Institute

DASHWOOD - Mrs. Margaret
Nadiger, 98 years young, died
Thursday, April 13. The commu-
nity extends their sincere sympathy
to her daughter Helen.
Calvary U.C.W. was attended by
14 members at their meeting Tues-
day, April 11. The hymn 'In my
heart there rings a Melody" was
sung by Genie McCrae accompany-
ing on the piano.
Christian Development Conven-
or Eleanor Weigand led in prayer.
Mrs. Martha Weigand read a tory
written by Mary Ann Horst about
the Old Order Mennonites who are
among the most conservative of the
Mennonite Heritage.
Charlene Edwards read "God is
the Answer" from the Helen Steiner
Rice book.
President Karen Tieman opened
the business with the minutes read
by the secretary Jane Newman.

Lutheran Ladies Guild
Lutheran Ladies guild met April
11. Opening Devotions were given
by Pastor L. Stojkovic from Co-
lossians 1. Two speakers, from the
Bereavement Families of Ontario
from London.
Altar guild for this month is Ni-
nia Kraft, Nora Wcido.
Remember the Mother, and
Daughter banquet at the May 9
meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Closing devotions were given by
Jill Stojkovic.

panions Sr. Citizens Club met
Monday evening, April 17 with 34
present.
President Shirley Preszcator wel-
comed everyone and the meeting
opened with 0 Canada and The
Lords Prayer followed by two min-
utes silence in respect for departed
members.
Secretary Alma Gcnttner read the
minutes. The Card Secretary Flor-
ence Martine reported sending three
get well cards and one sympathy
card. Thank you cards were read
from Mrs. Mildred Kellerman; Leita.
Hill and Martha Weigand.
Mrs. Alice Ticman directed a sing
song and gave a reading "Pain in
your Tooth".
Rev. R: Peebles favoured the au-
dience with a couple of solos.
Pastor Larry Stojkovic spoke on
"The five -steps of Grief."
Lunch was served. The May 15
meeting will be held at 8 p.m. with
Aldene Wolfe's group in charge.
The Dashwood -Zurich United
Church Pastoral Charge held a con-
gregational meeting Sunday April
23 at Emmanuel Church, Zurich.
A pastoral relations committee
was elected. It includes Hugh
Boyle, Bill Weber, Karen Tieman,
Maida Gaiser, Donna Greb, Mary
Jacobc, 11 la Iansbcrgen and Phil-

Graduate - Melissa Moore,
daughter of Ron and Marlene,
graduated from Fanshawe Col-
lege with her certificate as a
Developmental Service Worker.
She is currently employed with

the University of Western Onta-

We wish to thank the members
of the Christian Reformed choir for
their messages in song, on Monday
evening, also for their music
throughout the winter months.
We are pleased that some of our
Seniors are participating in the
Senior's marathon games in the
arca.
The sympathy of Residents and
staff is extended to the family of
the late Louise Rapicn. _
The Residents enjoyed a tea party
on Thursday afternoon in the audi-
torium.
Please remember to mark your
calendar for the Mother's Day Tea
and Bake sale to be held on Satur-
day, May 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
There will also be some craft
tables.

WI Annual
Dashwood Women's Institute
Annual meeting was held Tuesday.
April 7 with the Nominating Com-
mittee in charge.
The members completed a bulb
contest, followed by a comparison
showing the similarities between a
bulb blooming in spring and the
worship of the Womens Institute.
The roll call was answered by 17
members paying their dues.
Martha Weigand gave a report on
the board meeting held in Hensall
on April 4.
The District Annual •will be held
May 18 at 6 p.m. at the Seaforth
Presbyterian Church. Dashwood is
in charge of "Pennies for Friend-
ship."
Officers for the -1989-90 season
were installed by Edith Baker. They
are: Past President - Martha Wei-
gand; President - Katherine Becker;
Secretary Kathryn Kellar; Assis.
