Hostesses were Hilda Payne and Sadie Hoy. Following a delicious supper we visited Duttman's Bake Shop where Mr. and Mrs. Duttman showed us the large oven where all the baking was done, and Mr; Duttman ex- plained how hie day started at 4:30 a.m. to prepare dough for the bread • and rolls. • We then travelled over to''the Church House Antiques where pro- prietor Janice Bisback explained about .the purchase of the church, also some of the many interesting items in the store; On returning to Northcrest and the continuation of our business; President Grace Drulnmond:gave a reading on "Springtime' . There was a 55 cent pin fine and Ruby Triebner was guilty of not wearing her institute;.pin. Mary Broadfoot had to. pay a 25. cent fine for. not having a Tweedsmuir history report for Hilda Payne the curator. The re- maining 12 members had some very interesting write-ups to add to the Tweedsmuir History Book. Hilda Payne reported on "Spring Creek Farm" now owned by Paul includes dinner, tour of local bakery Alexander. Reports were given by Grace Drummond as president, Mona Al- derdice as treasurer, Helen MacLean as secretary Grace Eyre as sunshine, and Margaret Hoggarth as co- ordinator. Mona Alderdice conducted the election of officers for 1989/90 which Ruby 1riebner presented. Fhey are as follows: Past President - Ruby Triebner; President - Grace Drummond" 1st Vice - Margaret Hoggarth; 2nd Vice - Mona Alder- dice; Secretary - Helen MacLean ; Treasurer - Mona Alderdice; Public Relations - Margaret Hoggarth. Spring event - The ladies from - Exeter Bible Fellowship held a spring event - dinner followed by music, an entertaining "Gifts to Supermoms" by Janet Krahn, and a guest speaker. Grace Eyre and Jennifer Oulton, Citizenship and World Affairs - Margaret Hoggarth and Thea Wisch; Curator - Hilda Payne; Pianist Mary Broadfoot Assistant Pianist - Caven PCW hosts Spring Thankoffering 'EXETER - The Caven Presbyter- ian Church Women held their Spring Thank Offering meeting on Monday evening April 10. Presi- dent Mrs. Edna Simmons opened the meeting. In the worship service which followed Mrs. Lois Learn - read the Scripture Deuteronomy.. chapter 15 verses 11-14 and lesson thoughts on the theme Accepting Our Dependence, followed by piaycr- Special music was provided by Wilma Da% is who favored with two piano instrumentals. We all enjoyed her music very much. No- rah Taylor thanked her and Lois Learn presented her with a gift. On a moreserious note, the third . session of the Study "Keeping Covenant With The Poor" was pre- sented by Norah and Lois. Two in- formative posters were used in the presentation. It was stressed that we should open our hearts and minds . to hear what we personally and as a group can do to help the poor and needy. - Fourteen members and one guest were present to answer the roll call with a verse containing the word Spring. Maybellc Cann read the prem A Time For Beauty...spring is here. Mrs. Bridges reported that the P.C.W. members were ,guests at Thames Road U.C.W. Speaker Rev. Sheila Macgregor gave a most interesting talk on The Pilgrimage to St. Andrew on the north east - coast of Scotland illustrated with :pictures and slides. . - Business included plans for the Singers - Janet Krahn (right) provided special music at the dinner and evening hosted by the ladies of Exeter Bible Fellowship. Edna Simmons reported on the .Huron - Perth executive meeting held in Mitchell when it was decided to send two young children to Kintail Camp. The Fall Conference w ill tx held in Cranbrook, October• 10 -at 9:30 a.rir. - The -meeting closed with singing Come Let Us Sing. During the pleasant -social hour which followed lunch was served Hilda Payne; and Auditor - Phyllis Parsons. The motto "All history was once l current event" was given by Mar- garet Hoggarth. Secret pals were revealed and gifts exchanged. Grace Eyre presented president O -race with a fruit basket in appreci- ation of her devoted time and energy to Kippen East as our permanent president. Next month's meeting will take place on Wednesday May 17 at 7:30 p.m. to meet at Ausable Bayfield Conservation area.
