Junior Belles - The Exeter Junior Belle Ringette team was given an award for their play this season at the annual awards banquet last -Monday night. Racers returning to area circuit NAIRN - A pair of familiar names return to the Southwestern Ontario stock car racing circuit this season. Earl Ross and Cord McKi- chan arc back...but with a differ- ence. Ross, the only non -American to win a Grand National stock car race, will be teaching his tricks of the trade to Gord's son, 18 -year-old Tim McKichan. McKichan Sr., will be back in the pits while his son goes for checkered flags in the Street Stock Division at Dclawarc Speedway. Although he carted home a roomful of trophies from kart tracks in On- tario, Ohio and Michigan, ending up junior Ontario champion, Tim McKichan drives his first stock car race on Friday, April 21. He'll .be behind the wheel of a 1983 Chevcllc designed and built by Ross and his father, and powered by a 355 cubic inch Chevrolet V-8 engine. Car #3 is Ferrari red and sil- - "Tim will find driving a stock car is a lot different from a kart," Ross "But with his experience-er►--- t e art tracks he shouldpick up the differences quickly." The McKichan name is well known in Southwestern Ontario • stock car racing circles. Tim's uncle Ken raced at Dclawarc and another uncle, Stan, raced at Nilestown. School in Parkhill, but has his sights set on some day bringing honors back to Canada from the 'NASCAR circuit where he spent last season as a member of Junior Johnson's crew. Petite Team - The Exeter Petite Ringette team was given a special trophy for winning the Huron Perth division at the annual awards banquet last Monday night.
