The Irish have fallen behind three- games-to-one hroegames-to-one in the best -of -seven Junior D division finals against the Tavistock Braves, after the ['raves picked up a pair of wins on the weekend. In the previous series against the Exeter Hawks, the Irish also trailed three games to .one and came back to win that series, taking the rubber game in double overtime. Tavistock won the third game of the division finals 7-3 Friday night at the Lucan Arena and Sunday night's fourth game back in Tavis- tock by a 4-3 count, picking up the winning goal with only 13 seconds left in regulation. The story of Sunday night's game was the hot goaltending of Tavis- tock's Derrick Martin. The Irish outshot the Braves 25-11 in the third period, but could only manage two goal goals in that period. Irish coach Dave Revington felt Martin was the difference. "The way we played I thought we deserved to win but Martin made some unbelievable stops. We still didn't play 60 minutes of hockey and for us to win playing 60 min- utes is what it is what going to take," said Revington. Revington said the players are not discouraged and still think they can win the series. Lucan outshot Tavistock 44-35 in the game. Mark Albrecht, Brian Eaton, Paul Norris and Tim Yantzi scored for Tavistock, Yanzti's winner with just 13 seconds left. Scoring for the Irish were; Jon McEachem from Brad Muir, Paul Barnes from Dean Doerr and Jamie Pearce and Scott Denomy from McEachem and Tim Hayter. The lead was increased to 3-0 when Brian Schuyler connected from Jon McEachern and Jeff Hirt- zell, at 12:33 of the opening frame. Tavistock finally got on the board just 1:15 after Lucan's third goal of the game, with Paul Norris slip- ping the puck past Doug Haskett in the Lucan net from Charlie Lupton and Mark Albrecht. The lead was then cut to a single goal with 31 seconds left in the first when Al- brecht clicked from Dave Campbell and Mike Kohlmaier. Both Tavis- tock goals in the first period came while they were enjoying a man ad- vantage. The game was tied at 3-3 at 1:11 of the second when Campbell scored the third -straight power -play goal for the Braves,- from Dave Wiffen and Norris. The Irish got that back at 6:37 of that period when Hirtzell scored from Dean Schram. But that Icad was shortlived as al- most three minutes later the game was tied once again, when Steve Hagendom scored. The Braves had taken a 7-4 lead after scoring three quick goals early in the -final period. The second period belonged to Lucan and scored three times that period to Tavistock'~ pair, but Lu - can did control most of the play. Nick Banbury gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with his first -period goal from Zeigler. Scoring for the Irish in the second period were; Barnes from Muir and Febrey, Doerr from Wcishar and Barnes from Schram and Muir, but that was all they could manage as Tavistock goalie. Martin shut the door on them the rest of the way.
