Babysitting
course

HENSALL - The Hensall and
District Kinettes are offering a ba-
bysitting course to boys and girls
12 and over. The fun begins on
May 16 and lasts seven weeks.
( Registrations will be accepted on
a first come, first served basis for
those who will be 12 or older by
June 30, 1989. The registration
fee is $15 for the 20 positions
open. The course is produced by
the Canada Safety Council and
those interested should contact Pam
Mallettc at 9 York Street.
United Church
Three infants were baptised Sun-
day
unday at Hensall United Church at a
special service for the occasion.
The three were Matthew Wayne
Campbell, Meridith Troyann Mar-
garet Cole, and Laura Nicole
Noakes.
The Explorers will be. hosting a
bake sale and tea on Saturday from
11 a.m. to noon. Proceeds will be
going towards the World Wildlife
Fund.
Donations for the Hensall United
Church yard sale on May 27 are be-
ing accepted.
The Pastoral Care and Oversight
Committee of the Huron -Perth
Presbytery will be visiting Hensall
on April 27 at 8 p.m. and all mem-
bers are encouraged to attend.
Shuffleboard
The highest scores racked up in
Hensall shuffleboard action last
Tuesday were brought in by Dave
Kyle, Dorothy Brintnell, and Mar-
jorie Richardson, with totals of
400, 361, and 345 respectively.
Top gun - Jeff Campbell was honoured at the Hensall Minor
Hockey. Banquet Saturday evening for hi$ part in taking the Hen-
sall Tykes to the top of the heap this season. Campbell was pre-
sented a trophy with the puck from his 200th goal. He racked
up a total of 203 goals this year altogether.
School marks government
HENSALL - Last week students
at Hensall Public School and local
council officials celebrated Local
Government Week.
Primary and the Junior classes
visited the Town Hall to tour the
council chambers, town office, li-
brary, works shed, and the fire hall
on Thursday afternoon.
Students entered the Local Gov-
ernment Week Art Contest. Thc
students from Grades 1-3 had to
draw a picture of either a fireman,
works superintendent, dogcatcher,
etc. The winners from the Grades 1-
2 were Holly Cook, from -grade
three and Adam Miller from grade
one.
The students from Grades 4-6 had
to create a poster illustrating Hen -
sail's theme: "Living and Working
Together". The winners from grades
4 -ti were Blair Moir and Matthew
Wood from grade six.
Thc students from grades 7 and 8
had to create a poster that illustrated
the importance of local government
or promotes awareness of a munici-
pal concern such as recycling, fire
prevention or any other community
concern. The winners from grade 7
and 8 were Mindy Bell and Shane
Pepper from grade 8.
