Blood clinic a success
LUCAN - Lucan Blood Donor
Clinic was held on Thursdayeve-
ning with a good turnout: There
were 113 units given and there were
eight deferrals.
This may not sound like many
units but since Lucan is surrounded
by regular clinics in Ilderton, Med-
way High School, Ailsa Craig,
Parkhill and Exeter, the Red Cross
was grateful for the number of units
from the Lucan area.
"A special thank you to all the
volunteers which include- phone
calling, computer operators, bed
care, refreshments, etc. and we
couldn't do this without your help,"
says Jean Hodgins - co-ordinator.
-$25 and licence plates can be ob-
tained at any vehicle licensing of-
fice. However, they can not be reg-
istered to those under 16 years of
age.
Make sure you have familiarized
yourself with your particular type
of ATV before attempting to ride.
Read the owner's manual carefully
and practice riding techniques in an
open, off-road area away from ob-
stacles and other riders.
Remember, ATV s are intended
for off-road use and. aren't designed
for use on paved surfaces. You
should know the places you can ride
and the protective gear ATV riding
demands.
When riding, learn how to read
the terrain and react to changes
along the'trail. Stay away from dan-
gerous unknown territories such as
dangerous slopes and impassable
swamps. Stay on existing trails.

Thursday. Doing their part by giving blood are Larry Hotson, president of the Lions Club, and Gary-
McFails, also of the Lions Club.

Plan fun night at Lucan Legion
By Sid Daley
LUCAN - On Saturday, April 15,
commencing at 8:00 p.m. it's Casi-
no 'Fun Night' at the Lucan Le-
gion. This was a very popular event
introduced to the Branch by our late
Comrade Keith Dickson. All kinds
of games will be held and don't
worry about cash, we only use 'fun-
ny money' but the excitement is
there as well as a lot of fun. See yu
at the races.
If you are not busy on Tuesday,
April 25 around 2:30 in the after-
noon, 4rop over to the Branch and
help us entertain our veterans from
Parkwood Hospital who will be our
guests. Some of these Comrades
have a little difficulty getting
around and I know they would like
to see you even for a little conver-
sation. See yu there.
Don't forget Wednesday, April 12
at 8:00 p.m. -nominations will be
held. Be in attendance and nominate
the people you wish to run the af-
fairs of your Legion for the next
two years.
Did you know - The Ontario
Command of the Royal Canadian
Legion which has been in existence
for the past ten years made grants
for medical research, appliances,
. etc. in the amounts of: 1986 -
1987...$241,734.94; 1987 -
1988...$275.023.00; 1988 -
1989...$321,017.65. Mighty fine
record wouldn't you say.

Living Word
LUCAN - How on earth do we
Serve the Lord? Discipleship!
Last week we learned that it is
never easy to become a Christian
and declare discipleship to Him. It
will cost each and everyone of us
something as we step forward on
the Word of God. We are asked to
follow Him by showing total obe-
dience and suffering as we serve.
Then this week we continued to see
that to have total commitment to
the Lord we must believe that we
must obey Christ.
But being human this is one of
the hardest things we have to do in
our lives. We have to be able to
say, "Lord have your way with
me!" Remember that to be a fol-
lower of Christ is one of the most
fun things to do. Thus the chal-
lenge goes out to each of us to find
out what Christ wants each of us to
do for the rest of our lives in serv-
ing Him.
This Sunday we welcomed the
many visitors who came to cele-
brate with us in the special service
.of Baptism and Dedication. After
the service the congregation and
visitors celebrated with a scrump-
tious Turkey Dinner. May the Lord
be with those who chose to serve
the Lord today. Sunday School and
Primary Church was well attended
and have a lot of activities planned
for the upcoming Sundays.
Activities this week include our
three bible study groups, Music
Fellowship with all of those who
wish to exercise their vocal cords
and the adult Full Circle Fellow-
ship Group meeting on Friday
night. For further information
please call the pastor, Rev. Darrell
Shaule at 227-1296.
