Big birthday party in By Bernice Boyle DASHWOOD - The T. Harry Hayter family held an open house on April 2, 1989 in honour' f Frie- da's birthday. Guest cars were parked by Ross Keller and Wayne Denomme. Over 100 well-wishers and cou- sins from the U.S. and other parts of Ontario were greeted at the door by Tom Hayter, Paul Maguire, Ja- nice and Brad Oke. Joanne Maguire and Elaine Hayter escorted friends to the family room where the guest of honour was seated. Congratulations'to the new Presi- dent - .Theresa McCann, President Elect - Mary Lou Evans, Vice Pres- ident - Jean Fleming, Vice Presi- dent - Mary Muller, Treasurer - Marilyn Thompson, Recording Sec- retary - Cheryl Boland and Corre- sponding Secretary - Lea Vanneste. Past President - Theresa Larkin thankedher executive and council- lors and past presidents for all their support and help over the past two years. Also a big thank you went to Fa- ther G. Goyeau for his spiritual guidance and support and to all members of the C.W.L. for their involvement in parish activities. Fr. Goyeau expressed his appreci- ation to Theresa Larkin and all the C.W.L. members for their good work and efforts . New President, Theresa McCann was introduced and she inturn thanked T. Larkin for her fine ex- ample as president, Fr. Goyeau for his support and guidance of the C.W.L., and all C.W.L. members for electing her president. A quilt is being set up on Wed- nesday and Thursday, April 12 and 13 in the meeting room. If anyone wishes to quilt, come out anytime starting at 9 a.m. Bring a lunch, coffee will be served. The Mt. Carmel C.W.L., will be saner- etting up -a booth at Masonville Mall to sell cookbooks and also tickets on the crocheted bedspread on Friday, April 21 from 5:30 p.m. to closing and Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m. to closing. If you are interested in helping, even for a short time; contact Theresa McCann at 237-3387. Dashwood The food was prepared by Beverly McQuatt of Toronto. Wine was servedbyJeff Hayter and David Ma- guire. The hors. d'oeuvres, desserts, tea and coffee were served by nieces and their friends, Kathy Hayter, Nancy Rader, Julie Tieman, Lene Vermculen dressed in white blouses and black skirts. Tea hostesses were Ruth Ann Merner and Margaret Nickolson. Photographer for the occasion was Jayne Hayter. Flowers throughout the house were supplied by Richard Hayter's Co. "Sissinghurst", Toronto. A mixture of roses, lilacs, and lilies adorned the mantle and tea ta- ble. Each lady was presented a single Amazon rose which came from Holland. After five, a. family dinner was served by Beverly McQuatt, Richard Hayter and Jeff Hayter. Frieda was delighted to renew old friendships from the past including two of her school teachers, Alice Tiernan and Florence Hendrick. Joanne and Janice arranged a sur- prise for their mother. A friend, Norma Spallek, from Arizona ar- rived that Saturday. They hadn't seen each other for 37 years. Frieda and Norma reminisced while visiting Bayfield, Godcrich, London, and Stratford. Norma re- tuned to 103° F in Arizona from our cold winter weather on Satur- day. Personals Friends and neighbours extend Itheir sincere sympathy to Mildred ,Kellerman in the loss of her son 1John from Toronto. John was an inspiration to all handicapped peo- ple in Ontario and worked actively in the organization for better condi- tions for the handicapped. - Ken and Linda Genttner and fami- ly and Linda's parents Roman and , Elsie Meidingcr arrived home from a week's vacation in Florida on Sat- urday. Clandeboye CLANDEBOYE The Clande- boye Women's Institute sponsored a dessert euchre on Tuesday with pro- ceeds going to a donation to Pallia- tive Care. Ten tables were in play and prize winners were: High Score -Helen McDonald; Lone Hands Marion Thompson and Low Score Irene Lynn. Several draws were made and the lucky winners were Alice Hodgson, Evelyn Trevithick, Howard Dolan, Mary Kooy, Gwen Lynn, Lena Stokes, Marjorie Davidson, Hazel Cunningham and Florence White. All prize and draw- winners re- ceived an African Violet which were donated by Kay Armstrong.
