Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD - Melonie Miller welcomed everyone to the April meeting of Thames Road U.C.W. Doris Simpson read the Scripture Luke 24:1-12. Melonie , gave the Meditation. The worship service on the Res- urrection was given by Jo -Ann Rowe, Melonie Miller, Margaret Miller and Diane Jeffery. Margaret Miller called on Beth Cooper who sang "There's Room At The Cross" and "Put God Back Into Springtime." Jo -Ann Rowe thanked her and presented Beth with a gift. We enjoyed Beth's solos very much. "A Farm Woman's Easter Prayer" was given by Doris Simpson. Diane Jeffery called on Sheila Macgregor who asked each of us what we take on a trip? Sheila gave a talk on "The Pil- grimage. To St. Andrew" on the north-east coast of Scotland. She had a painted picture and passed some small pictures around so we could see what was in the larger picture. She closed her talk with a poem "St. Andrews By The Sea." Sheila showed coloured pictures of St. An- drews. It was very impressive and interesting. Jo -Ann thanked Sheila and pre- sented her with a gift. June Stewart'welcomed everyone and Marilyn Pym took the roll call. The Special Events Night is to be held in St. Johns United Church in Stratford. Several cards of thanks were read. Lunch.was served by Groups C & W. Ladies from Caven, Church Exeter, Kirkton and Zion attended the meeting, there were 60 ladies in all. Church service Rev., Sheila Macgregor was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning. Sheila intro- duced Mr. Don Langford, a farmer from the Kerwood area. He told the children about vaccine and syringes for immunization forchildrenin Ethiopia for treatment for meningi- tis. He was very interesting. Langford lead the Scripture Luke 6:27-38, and then he gave his ser- mon entitled "Images Of Hope." He told about his recent visit to Ethiopia. He also answered ques- tions about the country, etc. He has worked extensively in the field of world outreach and development and we were delighted to have had the opportunity to learn more of his experiences in Ethiopia. Coming events Next Sunday April 16 at Elim- ville, there will be a joint choir from Centralia and Zion performing their "Along The Road to Easter" presentation at 10 a.m. a warm welcome is extended to the Thames Road congregation. Regular service for Thames Road is 11:15 a.m.' Youth Group's next meeting is Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at Elimvillc Church. Cry Freedom group is to meet at 7 p.m. at the manse on Thursday April 13 for their final meeting. The same night, April 13, is Passo- ver Meal and Bible Study for one evening only, beginning at 8:30 p.m. -at the manse. Scripture Pas- sages from Exodus 7-11 will be studied. Sunday School teachers workshop is Tuesday April 18 at Thames Road Church at 7:30 p.m. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Brian Sullivan of Elora visitedrecently with Mr. and Mrs..Jack Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne holidayed last week in Washington. Quite a number of people from this community attended the Home and Garden at S.H. Rec. Centre and the Rainbow of Quilt Show at S.H. High School over the weekend. Mrs. Ross Hodgert, Mrs. John Pym, Mrs. Glen Stewart and Mrs. Jack Stewart attended the meeting of the U.C.W. at Centralia on Thursday evening. Mrs. Alan Macgregor returned to St. Andrews, Scotland after having visited her son, daughter-in-law, Rev. Sheila and Richard and Alex- andra for a week and a half. Electrolysis - Doug Sitter's project for the Exeter Public School science fair demonstrates how to produce hydrogen from water using electricity. Tumtable illusions is the title given to Laurie Coolman's and Ra- chona Good's science fair project at Exeter Public School. The grade eight students will be going to the Clinton finals later this month.
