Band livens seniors'
EXETER - The Country Kitchen
Band livened up the Exeter Seniors'
April meeting at the Legion Hall.
Program convener Ruth Skinner
couldn't say what country they were
from but some were sure they were
from the "East". Each was dressed
incognito and equipped with every
kitchen gadget and toy instrument
that would make music. They will
be welcome back anytime they
come to town.
Another but quite different band
with fiddlers Maurice Desjardine and
Lloyd Thomson, and guitarists Roy
Cooper and Jim Young, accompa-
nied by pianist Roxanne Thomson,
entertained with lively dance tunes
that prompted a few couples to
dance.
Ken Johns accompanied by pia-
nist Leila Finkbeiner sang the nos-

News from
Exeter UC
EXETER - This past Sunday was
the Third Sunday bf Easter and the
congregation at Exeter United
Church were reminded that because
of the Resurrection, we know that
the promise of new hope can arise.
Easter is not to be celebrated for
one day only. The Season of East-
ertide extends for 50 days to the day
of Pentecost.
Did you know that we have a new
group in our church? "The Women
Against Ugly Ties" have announced
.their fund raiser, a quilt made of old
ties: Here's a chance to get rid of
some old ties, help raise money for
the elevator and be creative all at
the same time. It will cost you 50
cents to submit a tie and another 50
cents if your tie is chosen for the
quilt. When the quilt is finished it
will go the highest bidder. Please
take note that the meeting of the
Afternoon U.C.W. on Thursday,
April 13, at 1:30 p.m. will deal
with the planning of the Smorgas-
bord, so mark your calendars, la-
dies.
The subject of discussion for Fri-
day mornings' Time Out this week,
will be "Updating Your Wardrobe."
Time Out is a time of fellowship
and discussion while baby-sitting
and activity groups for young chil-
dren are provided.
Next Sunday, April 16, our
church will swell with the glorious
sounds of the New Huronia Choir.
Come join our worship and fellow-
ship.
