HENSALL - Monday our Agri-
cu!ture Club met. We discussed
several areas of agriculture residents
have interest in, and we plan to
view the film "A Question of Bal-
ance" about preserving our prime
foodland, Monday, March 27.
Tuesday afternoon Rev. Rutledge
of Exeter Baptist Church led our
worship service with Jean Wood-
ward as pianist. Everyone enjoyed
his service and we look forward to
hcari •ig him again.
Residents joined Marlene Peck in
the Activity room Wednesday
morning for a session of fun and
fitness and games. Everyone really
enjoys those word games.

ing Bee. They also set up a beauti-
ful Baby Quilt for residents to work
on. We felt that with thc present
Baby Boom among the staff mem-
bers we should have no trouble
selling tickets on it upon comple-
tion.
On Good Friday morning resi-
dents were pleased to have Rev.
Wright of Hensall United Church
lead a beautiful Communion Ser-
vice for us. Special music was pro-
vided by Bill Gibson, Doug Mock,
Joyce Pepper and Carol. Gascho.

Season ends for Zurich skating

ZURICH - This is the last week
of lessons for members of the Zu-
rich and area figure skating club
this winter.
All the kids along with their
families are invited to the Skating
Banquet (a pot -luck supper) to be
held at the Community Centre on
Sunday, April 16 at 5 p.m.
Bowling
Patti -Ann Dickert finished eighth
in a group of 18 Senior girls sin-
gles competition last Sunday in the
Southern Ontario Youth Bowling
Council Championships at Toron-
to.
She bowled games of 192, 214
and 220 for a 626 triple and 86 pins
over her 180 league average at
Town and Country lanes.
She had previously qualified by
winning the Y.B.C. zone rolloff
with a 688 triple at Molesworth.
Paper drive
Don't forget about the Paper
Drive this Thursday, March 30 at
6:30 p.m. Members from the Men-
nonite Church will be coming
around to pick up your bundles out
near the curb.
Baseball
Those children from Zurich who
want to join the minor athletic
baseball team in Dashwood are to
register on Saturday, April 8 from
10-2 at the Fire Hall in Dashwood.
They are required to bring a birth
certificate to see which group they
will be in. Coaches are also needed
to help out. -
Monte Carlo
A reminder to everyone they are
invitoi to a Monte Carlo Night at
the Pineridge Chalet near Hensall
on April 7, sponsored by the Zurich
Knights of Columbus Council. All
proceeds will go to the St. Boniface
Church building fund. Tickets are
now available at $5 per person. A
hot buffet meal is also' included.
Hensall Kinettes
send couple
to Las Vegas

HENSALL - Grant and Lauren
Love, a Zurich couple, spent the
holiday weekend in Las Vegas,
courtesy of the Hensall and District
Kinettes.
The Loves won the trip at Thurs-
day's suitcase dance. Everyone at-
tended the event fully packed and
ready to fly to Nevada should their
name be pulled from the hat, but it
was only the Loves who left for the
weekend and returned Monday eve-
ning.
The dance was considered a suc-
cessful fundraiser, proceeds from
which will go toward Kinette com-
munity programs.
HDHS
Major R. Howey Langan from
Vanastra attended the annual meet-
ing of the Hensall and District Hor-
ticultural Society last Monday eve-
ning.
Langan showed a slide presenta-
tion on wildflowers in Ontario, ex-
plaining that they could all be
found within a 20 -mile radius of
Hensall. •
A bus trip to the Burlington
flower show at the Botanical gar-
dens is being planned. Anyone in-
terested can contact Cathy Mann.
Hensall's village flower beds will
be in need of attention soon and
volunteers will be needed to help.
The next meeting for the society
is on May 15, when spring premi-
ums will be handed' out to mem-
bers.
Hensall's third annual flower
show has been slated for August 30
this year.
United Church
The Christian Reformed Church
mens' choir from Exeter provided
some special music for the Maundy
Thursday service to start off the
Easter weekend.
The Sunday School intermediate
and senior classes conducted the
sunrise service the next day, fol-
lowed by a breakfast served by the
Worship and Music committees.
Golden Glimpses
ZURICH - Residents were busy
last week helping colour eggs and
baking cooking and decorating
them for the Easter weekend.
The Zurich Mennonite choir pre-
sented their Easter message in song
on Thursday evening which was
very much appreciated by the audi-

afternoon because of the numerous
Holy Week activities.
Good Friday communion services
were conducted in the chapel on
Friday afternoon for all Residents
who wished to participate. The ser-
vice was conducted by Rev. Robert
Sinasac and Rev. Clayton Kuepfc
of the United and Mennonite
churches.

The Hensall and District Horticul-
tural Society was. responsible for
placing hydrangeas in each of Hen-
sall's churches in time for the spe-
cial services.
The annual beef supper is going
ahead on April 12 with two seat-
ings: one at 5 p.m. and the second
at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at
The Flower Basket, William's Hair-
styling, and Drysdale's Appliances.
They cost $8 for adults, $4 for chil-
dren under 12, and youngsters under
five are admitted free.
Shuffleboard
Six -game high scorers on March
21 at the arena were Eileen Dow -
son, Ross Marshall and George
Dowson with scores sof 295, 285, -
and 243 respectively.
Five -game winners were John
Pepper, with 241, Alf Ross at 218,
and Dave Woodward with 210.

the Catholic Community at the
Easter Vigil on Saturday by Fr.
Hayes at St. Boniface.
Three babies were baptized over
the weekend: Jeffrey Richard Ma-
thonia, James Steven Debus and
Keith Patrick McMahon.
