John Herbert of Milton spent the Easter weekend with his grandpar- ents Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hod- gins, and on Easter Sunday they all attended a family gathering at the home of Lois Herbert in London. Nora Wissel and Elsie Dann re- cently enjoyed a vacation in Arizo- na. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoar, Jenny and Jeffrey of London were Easter Sunday evening guests with Mt. and Mrs. Ken Hoar, Jamie, Gary and Joanne. Harold Talbot spent the Easter weekend with several nieces and nephews at Orangeville. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hodgins, Scott and Phillip recently returned from a vacation in Florida. Larry Lewis of London spent.Eas- ter Sunday and Monday at his home in the village. Easter Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Joe French and family were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ruston and Mr. and Mrs. Garry Parkinson and family, all of St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hern and family, Win- chelsea and Mr. and 'Mrs. Earl French and family, Whalen Cor- ners. Out of darkness, the light was kindled from a fire outside and taken into the church. The guest officiant and cantor was Rev. Jay Koyle of Trinity An- glican church in Mitchell. The liturgy of the word was read by Olive (K.) Hodgins, Ken French, Roy Moore, Sylvia Beat - son, Rev. J. Koyle, and Rev. B. Wheeler. The homily by Rev. Wheeler was about the light and hope that comes from the Resurrection. In a service of Holy Baptism, Colleen Roberta Moore was bap- tized by the minister. This was fol- lowed by the celebration of the Eu- charist. An Easter Garden, Easter lilies and other flowers adorned the church. A Maundy Thursday evening ser- vice was held March 23 when Rev. Beverley Wheeler performed the cer- emony of the Washing of Feet. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated com- memorating the Institution of the Last Supper. The service was con- cluded with the stripping of the al- tar, and the cross was draped in preparation for Good Friday. Several from the St. Thomas' church congregation attended the Good Friday evening service at St. Paul's church in Kirkton which was led by Rev. Beverley Wheeler. United Church At Granton United Church on Easter Sunday, a sunrise service was held at 7 a.m. when Rev. Bruce Pierce's message was entitled How real is Easter to you? The lessons were read by Julie McColl and Becky Bryan and the bulletin steward was JuanitaKop. A pink hydrangea plant was placed in the church by the Cook family in memory of Bill and Irene Cook and Shirley Bilyea. An Easter breakfast followed the service. A Good Friday evening service was held at the United Church when the youth group presented a Good Friday drama entitled The Last Word. - Two anthems entitled Jesus wept and the Old Rugged Cross were sung by the choir and Ann Bryan rendered a solo "Were You There".
