Annual Provincial Conference of
the Junior Farmers' Association of
Ontario. The .Conference was held
March 17. to .19 at the Skyline Air-
port Hotel in Toronto. •
Delegates from across the prov-
ince participated• in the conference -
along with guests from the Future
Farmers of America, Manitoba:Ru-
ral Youth`: P.E.I. Rural Youth,
Quebec Young Farmers and Indiana
Young Adults. -
"The, Challenge is Mine in '89"
was the Theme of the Conference

Annual Meeting, Charity Auction
and the Annual Banquet and Dance.
Guest speakers and sessions includ-
ed Alan Simmons, Program Your-
self for Success; Ross Daily, Junior
Farmer Public Image; Creative.
Methods to Motivating Volunteers;
Making Your Meetings Fun; Agri-
culture in the Classroom; Stress
Management; Increasing Member-
ship; and Rev. Rodger McComli.
The delegates came, away from the
-sessions with a new awareness of
Junior Farmers and a knowledge of
personal potentials.
At the annual meeting Scott. Kel-
man, Brant Co., was elected Presi-
- dent of the Association and Kelley
Allen, Prescott Co., Vice President.
During the meeting many by-law
changes and resolutions were put
before the members. Topics ranged
from name change of the Associa-
tion, age restrictions, to the future
direction. of the organization. Junior
Farmers govern themselves and it is
here where they have the polver of
change. '
The Charity Auction for the Ca-
nadian Guide Dogs for the Blind
was the most successful ever with
over $24,900 being raised to date.

The cheque was presented to the
Founder of the Canadian Guide
Dogs for the Blind, Mr. Bill Thorn-
ton; during the Annual Banquet.
The Huron County Junior Farmers
would like to thank The Old Mill,
The Little Inn, Robindale's and the"
Blyth Festival for their donations.
Anne Alton, Widgham, was in-
ducted as Huron County's Provin-
cial Director during the Candlelight
Induction Ceremony performed dur-
• ing the Annual Banquet. Interpro-
• vincial Trip Winners from Huron
County were Paul Hoggarth, RR. 2,
Kipper; and Sandra Regele, RR 1,
Dublin. They..will be travelling to
Alberta and Manitoba respectively
this summer. These trips are spon-
sored by the Junior Farmers' Asso-
ciation of Ontario and various Agri-
businesses.

Good crowd at Centralia service

CENTRALIA The United
Church on Sunday's Epster Service
was attended by a good crowd. The .
sacrament of Holy Communion
was "Along The Road To Easter"
with the music parts taken by the
mens chorus. Judy Mills and Mar-
garet Hern. The soloist during the
offertory Lois Wilson sang "I
Walked To Day".
On Thursday evening March 30 a
Family. Night with a_pot luck sur
per at 6:30 isplanned followed U,
games. Bring crokinole boards and
games.
On Monday,.April 3 New Wom-
en's Group will meet at 8 p.m. at
Michelle Hern's and Confirmation
classes will begin Sunday April 9,
'2=5 -p.m. All teens and adults inter-
ested please contact Rev. Carter.

The Junior and Senior stu-
S dents had their school public
speaking contest February 17.
For the Junior division Julie
0 Koricina came first, Kevin
0 Coohnan second, and Scott
Rasenbcrg third. In the senior
division first was Erin Kraft -
check, second was Ann Marie
Mittelholtz and third was
Christie Bedard. These stu-
dents went on to Mt. Carmel
school for the zone public
-speaking contest. In the jun-
ior division Julie Koricina came third and•:in the senior Erin Kraft -
check was first.
Erin will be representing our zone at the system finals March 29.
Science Fair
. The students in grades 4-8 arc starting to prepare for the school sci-
ence fair. (For the grades K-3 the science fair is optional.) Our sci-
ence fair will be held on, March 28 and the winners from our school
will go on to the zone finals. We will be given class time to work
on our science fair projects. We have picked out our topics, and are
ready to start working:
On Broadway -
We have just finished our "Broadway Hit" and it was success! The
cast got together to perform this event on March 8, and 9. There was
a full house for each performance and we managed to get a tape of it.
Everyone worked hard to make our show a hit and we arc glad it
went so well!
