Nominations of officers coming up for Lucan Legion

LUCAN - Attention members of
the Lucan Legion! ! !
The nomination of officers for the
next two year term in office will be
held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April
12, 1989. Past President "Red" De-
graw has consented to act as nomi-
nations chairman. Let's have a
good turnout at this most important
meeting.
If you are willing to stand for of-
fice and are unable to attend on
April 12, please advise the branch -
secretary in writing of your willing-
ness to stand and for which office.
Congratulations to the winners of
the public speaking contest held in
the Legion Hall on Tuesday, March
21. The subjects were varied and
well presented. In my book all the
speakers were winners. The win-
ners were - Grades 4-5-6- First Mi-
randa Doner; second Julianne Mac-
Gregor; third Lynn Cowdrey.
Graduate - Joe Hendriks, son
of Henry and Alieda Hendriks,
RR #3 Zurich, graduated
March 19, 1989, as an Elec-
tronic Engineering Technologist
from RCC College in Toronto.
He is presently employed in To-
ronto at CNCP telecommunica-
tions. Joe is a former graduate
of South Huron District High
School, Exeter. Congratulations
Joe.

LUCAN - Good Friday evening,
Kevin Dance played The Holy City
on the organ during the offering.
Mrs. Wanda Courtis sang Here He
Comes with my Heart, and The
Lamb of God.
Rev, Roger Mason spoke con-
cerning the seven last words of Je-
sus on the cross. In Luke 23:34 Je-
sus prayed to His Father to forgive
those who were crucifying Him.
Luke 23:43 records Jesus assuring
the repentant thief crucified beside
Jesus that he would be with Him in
paradise that day, giving him per-
sonal salvation.
Easter Sunday morning Dan and
Cherly Wuerch led the Children's
Choir. Kevin Dance read 1 Corin-
thians 13:1-2 and 13, then Billy
Wuerch quoted a Bible verse.
The choir sang Love is the Great-
est Gift of All. All the children
quoted John 3:16 before they sang
You've got to Give it Away.
Pieter Schinkleshoek spoke from
Genesis 11:1-8. God tested Abra-
ham by calling him to sacrifice his
promised son Isaac. God had prom-
ised Abraham that Isaac would
.found a people as numerous as sand
on the seashore.
Easter Sunday evening Rev.
Roger Mason spoke from Matthew
28:1-8, the account of Jesus' resur-
rection. Although there are many
false explanations of the empty
tomb, historical and Biblical facts
prove Jesus' actual resurrection.
Spiritual Renewal Week - April
17 to April 21, at Lucan Revival
Centre, Rev. Gordon Williams and
Rev. Stanley Hammond will be

place winners speak in the Zone
contest and we wish them both suc-
LaLadies and that means ALL ladies
you are cordially invited to a ladies
only night to be held March 31 in
the upstairs hall at the Legion. So
make it a date to leave dad home to
baby sit and join the girls in games
of cards, etc or just a social eve-
ning. This is your night gals, take
advantage of it. Everyone, that is
gals, are welcome.
Lulu's anyone? Branch 540 has
another bus laid on for Saturday
April 8 for a return trip to Lulu's in
Kitchener which boasts the longest
bar in Canada. The cost $20 per
person which includes cover charge,
the entertainer will be Dan Seals
(tentative). We have been advised
your $20 cost also includes a few
surprises.
If you are planning on taking ad-
vantage of this entertainment get
your tickets now there are still a
few left. Oh yes- the bus leaves the
Lucan Legion at 6 p.m. sharp.
Everyone is welcome.
Don't forget the Brunch at the Le-
gion on Sunday, April 2 between
10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Increased the efficiency of our service by allowing
local merchants to retail postal products and services. This enables Canada
Post Corporation to concentrate on efficient pick-up, processing and
delivery of the mail.
