Howard Johns read from Matthew 21:1-11. Rev. Sheila Macgregor spoke a few words on Jesus Trium- phal Entry Into Jerusalem. During the singing of "Hosanna Loud Ho- sanna" the children of the Sunday School entered waving palm branches with Derek Etherington playing the part of Jesus. Laurel Miner read Mark 11:12- 19. Rev. Sheila spoke a few words "The Cleansing of the Temple." Rob Lynn came forward and over- turned the table scattering the coins to the floor. Marion Skinner read Luke 19:47- 48, 20:1-8. Rev. Sheila spoke a few words "Jesus Teaches In The Temple." Erin Coward brought forth a Bible and laid it at the foot of the large wooden Cross. The choir sang two anthems ac- companied by the organist Agnes Bray. Margaret Stewart read Mat- thew 26:1-16. Rev. Sheila spoke on A Quiet Day In Bethany. Elizabeth Ker- slake brought forth a jar of precious oil and laid it at the foot of the cross. Murray Dawson read Matthew 26:17-19, 26-29, 36. Rev. Sheila spoke on Jesus Last Day With His Disciples. Chad Smith, Trevor Skinner a a Skinner bringing a wash sin an towel, a chalice and br d, and a flower from the Garden and placed them at the foot of the Cross. Elders Floyd Cooper, Shirley Kerslake, Bruce Delbridge, Marjorie Johns, Ray Cann, Jack Hodgert and Bill Rohde and Rev. Sheila served communion as each member of the congregation came forward. Each person was given a candle and they were lit as the overhead lights were all turned off. Tyros and Fathers - The Tyro boys of Thames Road United Church entertained their fathers Thursday' night. Tyros in front from the left are Robbie Lynn, Dennis Gower and Tim Parker. A special thank you to all who helped cook the wonderful breakfast for about 90 people. Easter Service The Resurrection of the Lord Easter Day Church Service was well attended on Sunday morning. The choir sang two anthems; Doris Elford sang the solo part in the sec- ond anthem accompanied by the or- ganist Agnes bray. Rev. Macgregor conducted the baptism of Brian Douglas Leeland son of Doug and Patty Webber; Lary and Barb Ratz are the Godpar- ents. Bill Rohde clerk of session pre- sented the parents with a certificate and a New Testament. Erin Richardson presented 'a rose to Patty Webber on behalf of the Sunday School. Quite a number of people donated Easter Lillies which adorned the sanctuary in memory of their par- ents. Coming events The April meeting of the United Church Women will be held on Monday April 3 at 8 p.m. Don't forget the family portraits for our church album on Tuesday April 4 at church 3:30-9:30 p.m. Call Jack Stewart for your appoint- ment. Sunday April 9 Don Langford will be the guest speaker at Elim- ville and Thames Road Churchesat 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. His topic will be "The Ethiopian Crisis." Tyro banquet Around 65 people attended the Tyro Banquet at Thames Road Church on Thursday evening with Dave Williams of Woodham as guest speaker. Bob Heywood of Exeter played his accordion and sang. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bray, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde were Monday eve- ning guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ar- nold Cann. Mrs. Mary Thomson, Exeter, Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde attended the funeral of her brother-in-law and their uncle the late Robert Ross on Tuesday from the Sass Funeral Home, St. Marys. All returned to Kirkton United Church for refreshments and a social time. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde visited Wednesday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rohde of Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne had Easter Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Moran and Brendan in Toronto. Mrs. Lucy Siemon, Mr. and Mrs. -Keith Siemon and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Siemon and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Beauremann and fam- ily of R. 4 Walton, Mrs. Jean Mas - tin of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Brophey of Grand Bend and Miss Sharon Skinner of Exeter were Easter Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dawson and Brent. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cann returned home on Monday after holidaying in Hawaii for six weeks. Mrs. Mabel Jeffery of Exeter was a Good Friday noon guest with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Jeffery and boys, the occasion being Mabel's birth- day. Happy Birthday Mabel.
