Tykes take Exeter title
EXETER - After not winning a
game during the regular season, the
Lucan Tykcs won three times on
Saturday to take the "A" champion-
ship of the Exeter tournament at the
• South Huron- Rec Centre.
Exeter, Lucan, -Ilderton, Zurich.
Forest, Mt. Brydges, Parkhill and
• Strathroy all had teams in the
round-robin tournament.
In theopening game of the tour-
. nament, Zurich beat the host leant,
Exeter, 6-5 in overtime.
Scoring for the winners were; Jer-
emy Geoffrey from Bradley Graing-
• -er,. then Geoffrey had four more
goals, all unassisted, and Chris De -
Groot scored the winning goal unas-
sisted.. ' •
Scoring for the home team were;
Joshua DcBrum from Mark Billin-
sky, Robert DeVries from Andrew
Mayer and Jason Monteith, Jeremi-
-ah Brenner from Billinsky and De-
.:.Brum, DeVries from Barry Parsons
and DcBrum unassisted in overtime.
In game two, Lucan shutout Mt.
Brydgcs 2-0. For Lucan David Park
scored from Tyler Silver and Matt
Thompson scored Shawn Smith,
while Bobby Hitchcock picked up
the shutout.
In game three, Parkhill beat
Strathroy 3-1. Jason Van Massen-
hoven scored twice for the winners,
from John Moore and Bill Feltz and
Moore scored the other goal from
Van Massenhoven. -
In the fourth game, Forest
bombed Ilderton 9-1.
Exeter had tough luck in the first
game on the B side, losing 4-3 to
Mt. Brydges and were eliminated
from further action.
DeBrum scored -twice for Exeter,
once from Craig Overholt and Bren-
ner and once from Michael Ham-
mather and DeVries scored the other
goal unassisted.
In the next game, Lucan eliminat-
ed Zurich 3-2 in overtime.
Geoffrey scored both of.Zurich's
goals, from Graig Overholt and
Brandon Overholt, while Shawn
Smith scored twice for Lucan, once
unassisted and once from .Trevor
Smith, while Park got the winner
in overtime, unassisted.
In game seven, Ilderton eliminat-
ed Strathroy 5-1 and in game eight
Forest earned a spot in the champi-
onship game by beating Parkhill 4-
1. Moore scored Parkhill's only
goal, unassisted.
In the "B" championship game,
Mt. Brydges edged Ilderton 2-1, get-
ting the winner late in the third per-
iod:
Lucan then took the "A" champi-
onship game by a 3-1 count over
Forest, scoring all three goals in
the third period.
Scoring for Lucan in the title
game were; Colin Haskett from
Tyler Silver, Shawn Smith from
Matt Thompson and Joey
McNaughton and McNaughton
from Haskett.
Three ,AAA Restaurant in Exeter
donated S500 and a permanent tro-
phy
for the tournament.
Novice Waxers lose squeaker
EXETER - The Exeter Novice
Waxers lost a 2-1 squeaker to For-
est in Ontario Minor Hockey Asso-
ciation playdowns last Tuesday
night at the South Huron Rec Cen-
tre, but bounced back later in the
week to defeat Wallaceburg 6-0, in
Wallacchurg:
Forest's Dan -George scored the
only goal of the first period last
- Tuesday, after being set up by
Dusty Jamieson, at 4:12.
After a scoreless second. period,
Forest went up 2-1 when Scott
Milburn scored from linemates
George and Jamie O'Donnell,. at
5:35 of the third.
Exeter finally got on the board
when David Farquhar scored from
Chad Dalrymple, with only 1:46
left to play in the game and Exeter
couldn't get any closer.
Mike Parisi was the winning For-
est,goalie.
The loss dropped Exeter playoff
record to three wins and six losses.
Against Wallaccburg, Exeter
scored three times in the first peri-
od, once in the second and added two
more in the third.
Scoring for the winners were;
MacLean unassisted, Geoffrey Mali-
er from Mark Parsons, Farquhar
from MacLean and Ryan Frieter,
Frieter from Farquhar, Farquhar
from Frieter and MacLean and
MacLean from Sean Guenther,
Joey Bierling stopped all Wallace -
burg shots to pick up the shutout
for Exeter.
The team travelled to Wallaceburg
by bus for their final road trip of the
year for an action -packed, penalty
filled game.
Novice
Ringette lose in finals
On Sunday, in Godcrich, Exeter -
Novice -Ringette lost their final
playoff game to Godcrich 7-3 and
lost the series 2-1. Goals for Exeter
were scored by Meagan-Ratz, unas-
sisted, and Jayne Ballantyne, with
two, unassisted.
Exeter did not score again in the
second half. The score at the end of
the first period was 4-3 Godcrich.
Goals for Godcrich were scored by
Shannon Grant, with two, Angie
Lucan bowling scores

Volleyball winners - Centralia College's mixed volleyball league held their final games last Tuesday
night at the Huron Park Rec Centre. Surfacing as the winners of the "A" trophy were the Ausable
Autters who defeated the Lords n' Ladies to take the prize. The winning team consisted of, back
left, Leah. Kain-Donnelly, Patti Haist, Kathy Monk and Donna Glanville. Front, left, Bob Murray, Terry
Chapman, Pat Donnelly and Doug Hocking. The team Boozing Buddies were the "B" champions de-
feating Spike and the Setups. The Boozing Buddies team consisted of Marg Thompson, Gerald Cook,
Lori Cronyn, Mary Merner, John Bancroft, Glen Pfaff, Tammy Mathers and Andy Mathers.
Tweens
lose
Exeter Twecn's spotted St. Thom-
as a 3-0 lead before Jill Sararas
scored assisted by Michelle Bower-
man. St. Thomas scored again mak-
ing it 4-1.
Exeter came on strong the rest of
the period making it 5-4 for St.
Thomas, --
In the second period, Exctcr out-
played St. Thomas by adding five
more goals to St. Thomas's two. •
Goal scorers for Exeter were Jill
Sararas with four and two assists,
Michele Bowerman three goals and
two assists, Christie Bedard two
goals and Cathie Wilson had one
assist.
With Lisa Forrest in net for only
her second time did a great job with
the help of the defence.
