"We just weren't ready to play
Saturday night," said Mohawk
coach and general manager Bob
Rowe. "We can't go up there with
half a team ready to play, we have
to have all 20 guys going if we
want t win," he said.
Rowe also said the Mohawks
didn't execute. very well Saturday -
night but turned 'things around
Sunday. -
"We just did all the wrong things
Saturday night in front of. Bill, -.
•(Mohawk goalie Bill Dark), but
just didn't give him much support
and tried to correct it in. our rink
Sunday night and it worked much
better. I thought we really skated
with them Sunday night. .
':Creemore has a lot of guys that
can put the puck --in the net so we
haveto make the best of our op-
portunities when we get them and
play good defensive hockey in order
to win," said Rowe.
The Mohawks broke open a 2=1
game Sunday night with five sec --
end -period goals and cruised from
there.
• Quincy Wilker got the Mohawks
off on the right foot when he

Possible Tiger pitcher
LAKELAND - Lucan's Mike
Lumley, will probably be pitch-
ing for the new London Tigers in
1989. .
Lumley, who went to the De-
troit Tigers spring training camp
in Lakeland Florida on the Lake-
land Tigers Class "A" roster, will
be moved up to "AA" ball in
London sooner than he and others
expected. He has survived the first
two cuts and will have to keep
playing well if he hopes to stay
with London.
London Tigers' General Manag-
er Bob Gilson said recently he ex-
pected Lumley to be in a Lake-.
land Tigers' uniform until June
and if he was having a good sea-
son he would be moved up at that
time.
"We are really excited about
having Mike on the team. It will
be great having a local boy on the
team. We have met his parents
and grandparents and they they all
seem like really nice people," said
Gilson. He added that Lumley is
the only local prospect with Lon-
don and the only Canadian player
in the Tiger system right now.
Lumley, who moved to Lucan
with his family in 1986, will be
pitching professionally in the
same park he pitched at while
growing up, Labatt Park in Lon-
don. Lumley was, born in Lon-
don.
Lumley had pitched- there with
Eager- Beavers,- London Juniors,
London Royals and then the Ma-
jors.
"The chance to pitch in Labatt
Park is all the incentive I need,"
Lumley told aLondon Free Press
reporter. "I've pitched there all my
life."
Lumley, a 6'1" :right-handed
pitcher, played for Eastern Michi-
gan University in Ypsilanti and
was the Tigers' fifth pick in the
June 1988 draft.
He spent the most of last sum-
mer pitching Class "A" ball. in
Fayetteville, North Carolina in
the South Atlantic League. Lum
ley pitched in 58 innings, struck -
out 56 and posted a 3-3 record and
an impressive 2.91 earned -run av-
erage.
Lumley also pitched 50 innings
in the Instructional League in
Lakeland in September and Octo-
ber and only gave up one earned
run.
"They put me there because I
pitched well enough in Fayette-
ville and the Instructional League
to play "AA" this year. Now its
up to me to prove in the next two
weeks (here) I can do it," said
Lumley. -
The London Tigers break camp
April 4 and then head north for
their home opener at Labatt Park
April 7 against Albany Yankees.
later.
Pikul stopped 24 of 28 shots
while the Mohawks fired 39 at a
pair of Chief netminders.

fell asleep for five minutes and it
really cost us tonight. Otherwise I

some good goaltending but we
gave Todd (Hawk goalie Todd
Campbell) no support out there.
And we have to cut down on our
stupid penalties also," said Nairn.

his team got off to a very bad start
Frida r night but really turned
things around in the sccond half of
the contest.

ing in the sccond period. We can't
afford to give up 14 goals in two
playoff games and expect to win,"
said Revington,
At the end of the first period Fri-
day night, rather than send his team
to the dressing room, Revington
kept his team at the bench and had
a talk with them there. .
"1 just wanted to impress upon
them that we couldn't afford to lose
another game to these guys which
would have meant that we needed
to win the last four of five games
which would have been really diffi-
cult. We really hadn't been playing•
well up to that point in the series,"
said Revington.
Jean Paul Cousineau put Exeter
on the board Friday night, at :47 of
the first after being set up by Jim
Dickins and Frank Wulterkens and
