EXETER - Hello from everyone
at the Villa. Spring is officially
here but winter seems a bit reluc-
tant to leave. It's good t see the
daylight hours increasing.
Happy Birthday to Mary Stewart
this week. Belated wishes. to Rev.
and Mrs..J-lawley as they -celebrated
their 20th anniversary.
The Legion ladies started our
week off on the right foot with
their monthly bingo. We are always
delighted to see the ladies come.
We tried something very different
for us last week. Our bakers were
busy making -homemade .rolls for
supper.
They were such a success that
next week we are going to try hot
cross buns. - The ladies also made cornmeal
muffins for us to enjoy at bingo in
the nursing home. The muffins
were good but tasted even better
with the addition of some home-
made grape jelly.
Rev. VanEssen -conducted our
weekly worship services last week.
Thanks to everyone from his con-
gregation who assisted with the ser-
vice. It was good to have the extra
help with the singing.
Leprechaun Bingo brought the
Irish: out in everybody. Everyone
had to wear some green to win a
prize, and each game was different.
No one had the opportunity to yell
bingo, we heard several shouts of
"Green", "Irish" and"Leprechaun."
Thought for the week: Anybody
who thinks talk is cheap never
argued with a traffic cop.
Palm Sunday service
at Thames- Road UC
By Rhoda Rohde
THAMES ROAD - Rev. Sheila.
Macgregor was in charge of the
Palm Sunday Church 'Service on
Sunday morning. The seasonal co-
lour is red.
Rev. Sheila gave the children's
message "Follow The String. The
children were all given a green
Palm Branch and they sang "We
Have A King" and waved their
branches as they walked down the
aisle to Sunday School.
The choir -sang two anthems
"Hosanna,: Blessed Is He" and "Ride
On O Great Redeemer" accompanied
by the organist Agnes Bray.
The Palm Sunday Meditation was
Hillbilly Preacher from Galilee
Goes to Jerusalem: Jesus prepares
to enter Jerusalem.
He will enter majestically, hear-
ing cries of Hosanna in the highest.
His sights are set on what He must
do; His intentions are faithful to
God, who sustains Him. Soon the
crowds will disperse, to be replaced
. by tormenters; adulation will cease,
and .1 -le will be faced with betrayal.
Humiliation and obedience lead to
death so that life may abound to
God's glory.
