Exeter Council briefs
EXETER'.- Clerk treasurer Liz
Bell reported that the town has re-
ceived 5780 for the first quarter
payment for participating in the
Direct Gasamo program.
Under the Direct Gasamo pro-
gram, natural gas for all municipal
buildings is received directly from
Saskatchewan under the supervi-
sion of Union Gas and a rebate
paid.
To the refund, councillor Dorothy
Chapman commented, " That's
good news to hear that the project
is really paying off financially."
* * * *
Council learned from the Minsi-
try of Transportation and Commu-
nications that funds are not availa-
ble for any connecting link
construction on Highway 4 within
the town limits this year.
The town had proposed cold plane
and resurfacing of Main street from
the Ausable River bridge to the
northerly limits.

The Ministry of Housing is ask-
ing for another application and de-
mand study for Co-op housing in
Exeter. The deadline for the new ap-
plication is April -28.
* * * *
Council supported a resolution
from the Ontario Good Roads Asso-
ciation designed to convince the
provincial government of the need
to more highly prioritize the mu-
nicipal road system as a recipient of
provincial funding.
It also calls for the provincial
treasurer to immediately reverse his
decision not to increase municipal
road funding in 1988 and to fulfill
the government's mandate to pro-
vide a safe and economical.road sys-
tem by increasing municipal road
funding.
