Friday_ night's game at the-Rec
Centre was not as close as the score
might indicate: The Hawks lcd 2-1
after the first period and fell apart in
• the second, being outscored 3-0 in
the second, which made the differ-
ence in the game.
The Hawks took thc lead in the
first period on goals by Scott Bell
from _Nairn and Clark just 44 sec- '
onds into the contest and Nairn
scare from Thedford
scored from Ansems and, Bell at
8:53 while on the power play.
Thc second period proved to be fa-
tal -again for the Hawks as they
were outshot 13-8 but finally drew
a little closer in the final period.
The Hawks scored three times in
the final period but still fell one
goal short. Shackleton scored from
Ansems .and Cclusincau and Bryar,
Quinn scored twice, from Dubarry
and Jim Lewis and Anscros and Du-
barry.

The Mohawks will have some
time to rest their wounds however
as the Chiefs led 3-0 at one point in
the series, but the Huskies battled
back to win all three game on the
weekend and forced a seventh -and -
deciding gamc in the series, Wed-
nesday, (tonight), in Creemore.
.The Mohawks arc not sure when
the finals will begin but there is a
possibility it may start Sunday
night at .the South Huron Rcc Cen-
tre. For exact day and times for
games this weekehd, watch for ban-
ners around town and at the Rec
Centre.
Two Parkhill teams still alive
PARKHILL. - The Parkhill Pee
Wee and Atom teams arc both still
alive in the Ontario Minor Hockey
Association playdowns and both
have•rcached the semi-finals in the
"C" division.
The Pee Wces team played their
first game against Hagersville last
Sunday in Parkhill and the locals
came out on top of a 6-1 score in a
very tough, fast -paced match.
Steve Bax had a great game for
the winners and Chris Stanlake
tough on defence.

team eliminated Harrow in two -
straight games, then put an end to
Belmont's scason in the same fash-
ion.
The tcam advanced into the semi-
finals this week against the winner
of the Palmerston/Hagersville

against Belmont.
Novice split first two games
On Saturday, in Hcnsall, Exctcr
Novice beat Goderich 5-4, in the
first game of. � . of -three final
playoff series.
First goal of the game was scored
by Exeter's Tracy Wilson, assisted
by Meagan Ratz. Thc second goal.
was scored by Raz, from Sarah Ha-
milton.
Godcrich got one goal by Angie
Graham, in the first period.
In the second period, Ratz scored
again, with Wilson and Sarah Ha=
milton assisting.
Jayne Ballantyne got Excter's
fourth goal, from Julie Godbolt.
Ratz scorcd again, a "hat trick",
assisted by Theresa Wilhelm. -
Carolyn Quinn again, did an ex-
cellent job in net for Exeter.
Godcrich got three goals in the
second period, scored by Angie Gra-
ham, and two by Shannon Grant.
On Sunday in Goderich, Exetei
lost 3=2. -
Ratz scored tixo goals in the first
period also, by Candace McIver and
Angie Graham.
Exctcr never scorcd again in the
second period, but Godcrich had one
by Angtc"Graham.
Quinn saved a lot of good shots
on net. -
Final playoff game, will be
played in Godcrich on Sunday at
5:30-6:30 p.m. This game will de-
termine which tcam gets gold or
silver.
The Hawks will now face the Lu -
can Irish, who eliminated the
-, Mitchell Hawks -in six games, -in
the division -semi-final, starting
Wednesday (tonight) in Lucan at
-8:15 p.m. Game -two of the series
will be played Friday night (St. Pa-
trick's Day) at the SHRC at 8:30.
The remainder of the series was still
not known at press time. -
