Rec Centre on March 6 as the Ex-
eter Welcome Wagon hosted the
town's fifth annual Bridal Show.

EXETER - The Exeter United
Church Women have been busy
• this week with activities and
planned events to raise money for
the furnace fund. On Tuesday 281
meat pies wcrc made by 14 ladies,
which wcrc sold almost before they
were finished, due to their tasty
fame.
Mark April 1 on your calendar as
the date for a bake sale hosted by
the U.C.W., in conjunction with a
yard sale sponsored by the Finance
and Property Committee.
The Elevating Device Committee
announced that the project contract
has been awarded to GOL Construc-
tion Ltd. of Dashwood. Construc-
tion for the elevating device, . two
ramps, and renovation of the men's
washroom will begin this week.

ing classes for the United past two

about their role in our church as
both spiritual members and active
participants in the various interest
groups, boards, and courts that
make up the local, regional and na-
tional church.
That same date will see the Sun-
day School children involved with
the service, as they lead us in the
celebration of Palm Sunday.
The Lenten Communion Service
for this week will be held at Trivitt
Anglican Church, with Rev. Rob-
ert Arbogast officiating.

lists for the bride, the groom, gifts
and other organizing aids.
Attendance is by invitation only.
Each bride -elect "is permitted to
bring one guest. They came from
Lucan, Clinton, St. Marys, Sea -
forth, Grand Bend and points in be-
twecn.s
As the future brides toured the
room, they picked up more gifts,
including carnations from Country
Flowers, wedding favours from The
Wedding Knot and potpourri sa-
chets from a number of partici-
pants.
Refreshments were provided the.
local Welcome Wagon representa-
tives.
The first part of the formal pro-
gram was_a fashion show of wed-
ding apparel with gowns from Col-
lins The Wedding People in
London and bouquets from Country
Flowers. - Lingerie and dresses for
weddings and other special occa-
sions from ,The Wedding Knot in
Clinton were modelled after inter-
mission. •
The Bridal Show, always held the
first Monday in March, is fast be-
coming a tradition according to co -
hostess. Cathy Scip. Seip, who
was named Welcome Wagon host-
ess of the -year in 1983 and again in
1984, . and was instrumental in
twice getting Exeter named .Wel-
come Wagon's town of the year,
organized the first Bridal Party in
1984.. Weigand joined her as co
hostess a year later..
"'!'he Bridal Party_ is a. lot of
work, but it's also fun, and a chal-
lenge. I enjoy working with the -
business people, and this year I'm
also part of them'', Cathy said, re-
ferring to the fact she and husband
Tom recently became -proprietors of
the Exeter valu-mart.
Fifteen businesses have taken part
in the Bridal Party from the begin-
ning.
Each of this year's 24 participants
contributed a door prize.
