CLINTON - Despite the global
warming trend known as the green-
house effect, farmers will not have
to endure severe drought this sum-
mer. Dr. Terry Gillespie made these
comments at the recent O.A.C.
Farmers' Wcck.
There are definite implications for
all farmers in 1989. If we have ade-
quate rainfall, a better growing sea-
son, yields will he up. Large yields
may well lead to dramatic shifts in
prices of all crops. Livestock pro-
duction will also be affected. You
need to look at -your Business and
increase your ability to adapt.
We are' now past mid-February
and many farm operations arc pre -
to file their income tax re -
u. 11 is arso very important to
do a production and financial analy-
a number of years. It is most mean-
ingful to compare your farm to
your county commodity survey.
Your Farm Management staff at
the Huron O.M.A.F. office arc pre-
pared to assist you in snmmariring
your farm operation. With your tax
records, inventory and production
figures in hand, a short visit will
put things in motion.
Your result will he a confidential
computer analysis of your farm op-,
cration. With followup discussion
and comparison to county averages,
you should sec a number of ways to
strengthen your operation.
Now is the time to act before the
busy spring months. Please give a
call to your Agricultural Office at
