Season over
for Panthers
By Michelle Ellison
EXETER - Last week, South Hu-
ron District High School's Hockey
Panthers closed their season in
semi-final play against Clinton.
- The Panthers fell to the Redmen
10-2 last Tuesday at the South Hu-
ron Recreation Centre and 3-1 on
Wednesday when they travelled to
Clinton. •
On Tuesday, the Panthers weren't
playing up to par and allowed Clin-.
ton to take an early lead. Unfortu-
nately, the Panthers couldn't catch
their opponents and were defeated
10-2.
Scoring for the Panthers were
1larien Tinncy and Jon O'Connor. •
The following day, the Panthers
travelled to Clinton for game two
of the series. The team did an ex-
cellent job of putting the previous
days game out of their mind as they
played extremely well. South Hu-
ron had many scoring opportunities
and controlled most of the play.
Clinton's goalie, Richard Lyn-
don, kept his, team in the game
stopping many shots.- Doug KcIIs
also played very well between the
pipes for South Huron but allowed
Clinton to hit the net once in each
period before Haden Tinncy con-
nected with Dave O'Connor to ptit
the Panthers on the score hoard.
Despite their efforts, the Panthers
couldn't overcome the Rcdmen los-
ing 3-1.
Although the Panthers had a dis-
appointing playoff season, coach
Paul Cronin felt his team still had
a successful season ending their
year with five wins and six losses.
