Ltd. He has been with the company 17 years.
Thompsons expect
good year in '89
In the past year W.G. Thompson
Ltd., one of the largest family-
owned agri-businesses in Canaria,
has upgraded existing facilities at all
11 company locations.
Fertilizer storage capacity has
been doubled at the Hensall branch
in the last 12 months, another -silo
gives more storage for liquid 28 per-
cent, and the acquisition of a second
Tru -spread tcrragator means Hensall
now has two units each for dry and
liquid fertilizers. A maintenance
shop was also added in 1988.
Hensall manager Dale Good hopes
the next upgrading item' will be a
Kewanee truck hoist at the old mill.
Good reports that Thompson's Pri-
vate label Marathon soybeans, de-
veloped for the 27 to 50 heat unit
conditions locally, have "really
caught on" this year.
The outlook at Thompson's for
1989 is upbeat.
"Last year's drought can't happen
two years in a row. We have a
real good fertilizer pre-payinent,-
and commodity prices arc holding,
compared to last year. Farmers are.
optimistic, and so arc we", -Good
said. .
Thompson's is hosting a farm-
ers' day on March.1 in the Hensall
Community Centre. Jay Camp-
bell will be the after-dinner speak-
er.
Rick Graham, assistant Hensall branch manager (left) talks with
sales representative Dave Consitt.
