Belated thanks arc due to Don and Audrey Watt for donating all the lineage during that 12 hours of howling. Don kept us supplied with coffee and jokes as well enter- tainment. Thanks also to the representatives of Big Brothers and Sisters as well as the Times Advocate photogra- pher who dropped in to the lanes in the wee hours to add variety to our routine. Panthers end season losing EXETER - South Huron District High School's Senior boys basket- ball team season ended after losing a disappointing tiebreaker game against Listowel last Monday. The Panthers travelled to Listow- el for the deciding game of which team would enter the quarter final round of playoffs. The Panthers played extremely well in the first half of play, taking a 23-20 advantage. During second half play, the score remained close and time running, South Huron held a two-point Lead. At the buzzer, a Listowel player made a final attempt to tie the game. After much controversy, the basket was allowed and the teams began overtime. ' After triple overtime play,' Lis- towel held the lead 61-52 to claim the victory from a disappointed South Huron team. Rob Pearen led the Panthers with 17 points, followed by Mike Zim- mer with 11 and Scott Hern and Jim Dickens each added seven. • Irish even with Mitchell LUCAN - The Lucan Irish Six Junior D Hockey Club has split the first two games of their best -of - seven quarter final playoff series against the Mitchell Hawks. The Irish won the opening game of the series 7-3 last Wednesday at the Lucan Arena, but Mitchell bounced back to win game two 5-4 Friday night in double overtime in Mitchell. John MacEachern lcd the Irish in the first game with a pair of goals and singles went to Brad Muir, Paul Barnes, Dean Schram, Jeff Hirtzell and Joe Febrey. Game two of the series will be played tonight, Wednesday at the Lucan Arena at 8:15 with game four back in Mitchell Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Novice Waxers split first two LAMBETH - The Exeter Novice Waxers split their pair of OMHA playoff games on the weekend, beat- ing Lambeth 3-1 Saturday and los- ing to Pctrolia 7-4 at the South Hu- ron Rec; Centre. The first period of Saturday's game was scoreless but Exeter struck twice in the second. Scan Guenther scored at 8:45 from Ryan Farquhar and Lawrence Cole and Ge- off Maver scored from David Farqu- har with 32 seconds left in the sec- ond. Cole scored just over a minute into the third to make it 3-0, from Ryan Freiter and Ge.unthcr. Lambeth scored at 9:56 of the third to ruin Joey Beirhng's shutout bid.
