The grade 6 class are perform- ing excerpts from Grease and the grade 7s have their version of West Side Story to complete this year's operetta. Queensway invited to Blue Water HENSALL - Monday morning several residents enjoyed tea in the sunroom while listening to a tape of the Hensall United church ser- vice. We appreciate having these tapes provided for us. In the after- noon the Kippen U.C.W. played Bingo with the residents. Reverend Van Essen led our wor- ' ship service Tuesday afternoon with Zurich thowers - It would seem as if these Zurich .Public School students had little trouble reaching the net during a free throw competition against Hensall Public School and St. Boniface Separ- ' ate School. "Shane" was the featured movie, Thursday afternoon for those resi- dents not travelling to Bluewater Rest Home for the Euchre and Crokinole party. Thank you to Elva Forrest, Eileen Rannie and Helen Anderson for being volunteer driverson this outing. We had a good time playing games with Bluewater residents and doing lots of visiting. The Harmony Kings Quartet en- tertained that evening at our month- ly birthday party. We wished them luck in their competition in Sea - forth. Birthday greetings to Mabel Chowen, Olive Heal, Harold Pen - hale, Esther Barry and Christine Taylor. Resident Council met Friday morning and in the afternoon Agri- culture Club viewed a film entitled "Selling out" regarding foreign ownership of our land. We .dis- cussed the difference between absen- tee owners and foreign ownership, family farms and for some of us how many years our farms had been in the family. Times -Advocate, March 1, 1989 Page 15 Annual operetta tonight By Carmel - Sweeney ZURICH - The senior grade pu- pils of St. Boniface School will be presenting their annual Operetta called, "A Musical Experience" in the gym tonight March 1 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $3. The play was previewed by pu- pils of Zurich Public School Tues- day afternoon. Skating Club Carnival Mark your calendars for the annu- al Zurich and area figure skating club Carnival on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Zurich arena. This year's theme will be "Crys- tal Fantasy" and tickets are on sale at $3 for adults; children $1 and pre- school kids are free. Guest skaters will be Kathy Merner and Paul Arms, plus Cathy and Jimmy Judge. Bingo A good crowd attended a Bingo to raise money for Brother Bob Mittle- holtz at the arena Sunday afternoon. The winner of the $100 prize was Linda Genttner of Dashwood. Midget hockey The Midget Hockey team had a busy week travelling by bus to Shallow Lake last Tuesday night to play their third playoff game - which they lost. On Friday night the Shallow Lake team came to Zurich for a fourth game - which Zurich won! On Saturday it was back to Shal- low Lake for a final last show down, but Zurich lost after giving them a run for their money with a final score of 3-2.
