Magnum tractors
selling beyond
all expectations
"They have far surpassed our ex-
pectations."
That was the comment of Becker
Farm Equipment vice-president Bob
Becker in referring to the first year
of sales of the new Magnum trac-
tors manufactured by Case Interna-
tional.
Becker who is also manager of
the Exeter operation went on to
say, "The Magnum not only went
beyond our fondest hopes, bu't also
those of our customers.
Since the Magnum line was in-
troduced in August of 1987, the
company has established a 5,000
hour and five year warranty at no
additional up -front cost to the cus-
tomer. Becker added, " That's the
type of confidence the company has
in this line. There is no comparable
warranty on the market."
The Magnum tractors come in
four models ranging from 130 to
195 horsepower.
Case IH combines also sold well
in 1988. The Becker forecast for
1988 was to sell two more com-
bines than they did the previous
year. The actual combine sale in-
crease over 1987 was 10.
During 1988, Case IH increased
their market share considerablq' in
combines and tractors with 130
plus horsepower and more and
Becker expects that trend to contin-
ue this coming year.
Upcoming in the Case IH line for
this year is a new series of upgraded
combines in May and a new tractor
series with horsepower from 75 to
100 late in the year.
Case International and Hesston
Corporation have recently signed a
joint venture agreement. The pur-
pose of the agreement is to maxi-
mize the utilization of production
facilities for hay and forage equip-
ment of both companies. This will
allow improved quality and availa-
bility to all Case IH dealers.
I Case International recently pur-
chased the Steiger tractor line and
this consolidation now provides one
of the largest lines of four-wheel
drive tractors.
While commodity prices and the
farm economy took an upswing in
1988, Bob Becker doesn't see the
same thing happening this year.
He commented, ' I don't think
there will be the same upsweep,
but I hope commodity prices will
at least stabilize and hopefully a
small rise in some categories.
Becker says he is concerned with
the present high interest rates. He
added, "They certainly are a big
factor in the farm equipment busi-
ness and I hope the government •
can control inflation.
Bill Becker is Becker Farm
Equipment president and in charge
of the Dashwood operation. Joe
Becker is the parts manager, Kathy
Keller handles the office duties and
Adrian Brand is the mechanic.
At the Exeter dealership, the
parts department includes manager .
Ed Skinner, Roy Stover, Arnie
Martin and Gord Gerrits. Peter
Czypyha is the office manager and
is assisted by Nancy Becker and a
co-op student Cindy Beaver.
In the back shop, Brad Murray is
service manager. The mechanics
are Gilbert Brand, Joe Lacey, Paul
Taziar, Jamie Lacey, Richard Ei-
sert, Larry Consist, Jeff Amos,
Dale Sweiger and co-op student
Rod Woods.
John Becker is in charge of
transportation for both locations..
Stu McLellan and Len Lobb,
Becker's sales rcprsentatives, were
instrumental in qualifying Becker's
as the top 1988 sales Volume
Dealer Case IH dealers.

will be field at the. Exeter location
