•Blues eliminated - The Exeter Mohawks swept their best -of -seven
series against the Harriston Blues, winning 10-5 Friday night at
. the South Huron Rec Centre and 6-5 in overtime Sunday afternoon
in Harriston. The Mohawks will now play the Elora Rocks, who
swept ;the Tavistock Royals -four straight, in the second round.

Hockey Panthers crush Seaforth Bears 10-0

EXETER - On Friday, South Hu-
ron. District High School's Hockey
Panthers crushed the Seaforth Gold-
en Bears 10-0 in their final regular
season league game at the South
Huron Recreation Centre.
The Panthers played well in the
first period but because of excellent
goaltending by -Seaforth's Jason
Patterson, it wasn't until late in the
period that SH opened scoring on a
goal by Henri DeBruyn. Drawing
the assists were Rob McKnight and
Andrew Thompson. At the 1:34
mark, Brian Moir connected with
• Todd LaPorte to end the period in a
slight 2-0 lead forthe locals.
The second frame brought six
goals from the Panthers. McKnight
opened scoring at the 13:13 mark
from DeBruyn and Alan Blom-
macrt. Moir followed unassisted at -
12:42. Moir picked up his third
point of the game when he drew the
assist on a goal by LaPorte.
At 6:03, DeBruyn hit the net
from Steve Arnold and LaPorte.

scored from McKnight to end the
period with the Panthers up 8-0.
SH worked the puck around well
in the Third period and managed to
score two more goals. The first was
by Brett Borden from Miller and
Blommaert ended the game at 1:42
on an unassisted goal.
The Panthers ended up third over-
all in the Huron -Perth league behind
F.E. Madill and Clinton. The Pan-
thers began playoffs against Clinton
yesterday at the SHRC and will
travel to Clinton today for game
two of their series. _ ;.

Panthers came through with two.

In the third period, the line of
O'Connor; Moir and Lingard con-
nected again with Moir taking the
goal. O'Connor got his third point
of the game at the 8.37 mark when
he scored unassisted.
Clinton is -the only team the
Panther's have not beaten in regu-
lar -season play. This should ac-
count for some exciting playoff
games.

ing to Listowel 60-53. The boys
.played well in the first half ofthe
play holding Listowel to a 28-26
count. Unfortunately, Listowel
pulled ahead to claim the 60-53 vic-
tory over the Panthers. -
Randy Johnson led the Panthers
with 12 points followed by Jason
Heywood with seven. Peter Over-
holt and Terry Guettner contributed
six each.

Panthers play Listowel

LISTOWEL - South Huron Dis-
trict High School's Boys basketball
teams played their final league
games in .Listowel on Friday. SH's
Midget Panthers returned home
with the Panther's only 'victory of
the day. "
The Senior boys played an excit-
ing game against the Lords coming
up only four points short,.43-39:
The Panthers tAeld Listowel to a
close 24-23 draw at half time. Un-
fortunately, the Lords maintained
their slight lead to take the win.
Tim McAllister led the scoring
for SH with 14 points. Rob Pearen
followed with seven and - Mike -
Zimmer and Rob Wonnacott each
-added six. - The senior Panthers met Listow-
el on Monday for a tie -breaking
game. This game decided who
would place fourth m the Panther's
tier of the Huron -Perth league.
The Junior Panthers also returned
home- unsuccessful falling to -the
Lords 33-30. ,
Listowel took a slight 17-12 lead
after one half of play. SH put forth
an excellent effort in the second half
but couldn't quite catch. theiroppo-
Molting Hawks
win two of three
The Exeter Molting Hawks won
two out of three games this week.
'Last Wednesday, they travelled to
London and beat Andys Old Wrecks
5-3. Ken Bergmann led the way
with a hat trick, while Phil Turner
and Bob McDonald added one goal
each. Scott. Burton had two assist,
Ernie Ahrens and Bob McDonald
chipped in with one each.
On Sunday, they dropped a 7-2
decision to London Old Relics.
Bergmann and Burton each notched
one goal while Eli Pfaff and Berg-
mann each picked up an assist.
On Monday, they beat the Strath-
roy Old Royals 5-2.
Bergman continued his hot .scor-
ing pace of late with four markers
and one setup assist. Burton
notched the other goal. He also add-
ed two assists. Jack Chipchase had
three assists, while Bob Jones
notched a single assist.
Glen Stire played a solid game in
goal against -the strong Strathroy—
team.
Coach Wayne "Canoe"- Pearce
used some good strategy to help in
the win. -
This Thursday, they travel to
Strathroy for a return match with
the Royals while Monday they host
the Lucan Classics.

comeback was due to a high stioot-
ing percentage in the second half,"

played a superb game scoring 16
points for the Panthers. Jason Hey-
wood also had 13 points. •
SH's Junior Panthers finished -
third in their tier of the Huron -Perth
league and will begin playoffs next
week.
